Compare SPARC MT/s to Pentium MT/s?
Does anyone know where I can find a comparison of Sun SPARC processor speeds to Pentium processor speeds? I would also be interested in a comparison with other processors.

Tomshardware published what could be considered the definitive answer to this question. http://www.tomshardware.com/
look up the CPU comparison chart, you'll be amazed how in depth it gets.
BTW Sun Sparcs are a fundamentially different chip from the Pentium series so looking at proc speeds isn't going to really tll you much. Instead look at what the chip is meant for and go from that.
What I mean by that is the Pentium chips (until recently) are meant to excel at making one or two apps execute REALLY fast and keep everything else moving fast enough so that you're happy.
Sun Sparcs are meant to keep everything moving as fast as possible with as much slowdown to keep things fair.
This is an EXTREME oversimplification but it pretty much sums it up.
Think of it this way, a consumer will want to work on photoshop or play a game. One real task at a time, not serve 10000 webpages at a time while accessing multiple databases and running multiple apps. Sparcs were meant for things like that. Pentium arch and speed have been pumped up enough so that they can now do that, but all things considered Sparcs are better at it.
Hope this helps!
