How many God's was present in the garden of Eden?

While answering anothers question, I ended up asking this question to prove a point. I am a Christian but I am not one of those fanatical types. I understand what is important to God and what is not..... So I ask this question with an opinion already, but I want to see what others have to say about this question. I only worship God Almighty, the father of our lord Jesus Christ, but I know he was not the only one present.

Please give an explanation with your answer.

Update:

Sorry folks, but I am not talking about the trinity.

Update 2:

I'm asking about beings who had power.

I agree with some of my friends above who mentions God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit.... but I think I understand your question and what you are trying to point out.

God the father, son and spirit was present in Eden and although it is only they that I worship and put my trust and belief's on, I know for a fact that God made man in his image and gave Adam a special authority called "Dominion", [Gen. 1:26 & 28] which is authority/power/control, over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Call me crazy but I think this includes not only the animals but the spiritual beings on earth too. And from this it is where I assume that mankind became a (sort of) lesser god, if you will.... underlord?, overlord what ever yo want to call it, Adam had power over everything.

And then there was the devil.... who hated God and knew that the only way he could possibly hurt God was to bring mankind down because he saw how much God loved this newly created being called Man.

Now although I don't believe in any way, that the devil is a God, many people do.... Satan has the power to do almost anything and Mankind gave the gift of dominion over to satan when he willingly put himself in the hands of the devil...... I say willingly because Adam knew what he was doing [1Tim. 2:14]. So when mankind put himself in the control of the devil [through death], mankind sort of became the property of the devil giving the devil power over mankind making the devil a kind of god..... which is why Christ had to come and rescue us from all the chaos that was caused by this one action that man did.......

    So my answer is..... 4

First it was God the father, the Son, the Spirit and Adam...... then there was God the father, the Son, the Spirit and through mankind's fall... the devil became one over mankind only.

I hope this helps in your search for answers, but I think you already knew this. I am always open for discussion [through email] if anyone wants to discuss my answer.

May God almighty bless all that call upon his and his son's name, Jesus Christ.

If you worship "God Almighty" you are worshipping the God-head, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. Also it says that "let Us make man in Our image"-Gen 1:26. And then again when talking about God the Son, or Jesus Christ, in John 1:1 it says that "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." this says that in beginng of creation Jesus was with the Father, in the Garden of Eden. Also in Psalms 51:11 David writes "Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me."This means that the Holy Spirit is ever present He has alwasy been and will always be. Therefore in the Garden of Eden, there was the God Almighty, consisting of God the Father, God the Son, God the Spirit. I hope this is helpful.

When God speaks in Genesis chapter 1, he speaks with himself using the Plural..."Let us make God in Our image" Therefore we see that there is some kind of plurality in God. However, the very first verse of the bible says "in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." The word "God" is a plural noun that is used as God's name <Elohim>. It seems that God is plural. However...later on when Adam and Eve speak to God, they use a masculine singular "you" (cf. Gen. 3:12). So which is it? Are there more than one Gods or is something else happening?

In Hebrew, a plural noun can be used for emphasis or even honor. There are even some kings that are referred to in the plural...so that is how Jewish theologeons understand the plural...that it is a matter of honor and is not calling God more than one being. (Deut 6:4).

Christians, however point out something else interesting about Genesis chapter one. Notice that when God speaks, not only is his name plural, not only does he speak with himself in the plural, but there seems to be a seperation of God himself. Notice that Genesis 1:1 mentions God, and then verse two mentions something dealing with location (earth, surface, deep) while mentioning not just God but the Spirit of God. Why distinguish between God and the Spirit of God? (especially one verse apart!)

That is why the Jews insist that God is One, and uses plurality to refer to his magesty, and Christians still insist God is One, but that he is Trinity (three persons from one essence) and that Genesis 1-3 suggest that Trinity.

    whew! hope that helps!

Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord: Deut 6:4 Elohim refers to the multi-facetness of God, the "I Am That I Am" meaning "I Am" whatever you need me to be at that point of need. There is only one God! not three, not person(s) only ONE. Ehp. 4:5, Is 43:11 (beside me there is no saviour) You cannot have two first or two lasts. Either Jesus and God are the one and the same person (Hebrews 1:3) or someone is lying to you.

There is ONLY ONE God. Three persons in the Holy Trinity, BUT ONE GOD.

One God. However there is the trinity to consider. I assume that is where you are going with this question. Check out this link.

Elohim is plural meaning more than one. Father Son & Holy Spirit.

In Genesis "Let us make man in OUR own image."
