Why can't Conservatives ask questions without bashing Liberals?
Or in fact anyone who doesn't agree with them? I was under the assumption that diversity of opinion is what America is all about. Does everyone need to agree with you? And please I ask you again--- answer this with a thoughtful answer--no bashing. It's really getting old.
Wow I am impressed. I actually got some well thought out answers. And of course my question should apply both ways. We, as, groups ae all quilty. However I have to tell you, although I am a Liberal Dem and proud of it, I have voted for Republican moderates when I think they are best for the office they are running for. I will however NEVER vote for a Conservative. The dogmatic religious right does not appeal to me or many others

Truth be told from what I've seen on this site, it goes both ways. Liberals phrase their questions to attack Conservatives just as much as the other way around. I'm liberal too, but that's just what happens when you find a subject as contentious as belief systems. It is why religion has the same bashing.

I try really hard to not bash other peoples beliefs, no matter how far off they are from mine. I have been in many discussions where when presented with a logical question, or give fact to back my view, liberals will be the first to start calling me names (moron, idiot, scumbag) I don't understand this. If you read through my posts I try not to throw stones, rather try to put forth a reasonable post, from my viewpoint. Also, we are all very passionate about our pet cause, and when you attack someones passion, they tend to get defensive, and degrade to name calling. What I can't stand is someone criticizing someones spelling or grammar when theirs is far worse than the person they attacked, or some idiot getting all happy that our soldiers are being killed. I don't like war but I will defend our soldiers in the field. We can all stand to be a little more tolerant of others beliefs. A little kindness can go a long way.

You mean all the questions asking how stupid, evil and corrupt Bush is, how evil and greedy and stupid and Nazi-like Neocons are, etc?
Are you really that blind to the fact that both sides are doing this, and probably moreso on the Liberal side than the conservative side?
You see, it is this very blindness to the failings of your side that probably accounts for your also not being able to see the blatant bias in the newsmedia, which is so evident to us conservatives. The media, too, do not see their own bias, because they just assume that their view is the only view.
Also, many times we see the same lie trotted out over and over - no WMDs in Iraq, war for oil, Bush-Osama connection, Clinton was a good president, etc, that we get tired of it, and tired of having to educate people to the truth, when that truth is so readily available to anybody with curiosity, integrity and a desire for facts.
Lastly, when somebody call me a Nazi, evil, greedy or stupid, I will not hold back, and will let fly with both barrels.

I guess some can't. But then again some Liberals/Democrats can't without bashing Conservatives.
I consider myself about 80% conservative. So far I've asked 6 questions. None of them bashed Liberals, Democrats or any other group.

The same reason Liberals can't offer a solution to what they call "problems." They simply say that something is wrong and never offer what they would do.
If the "religious dogmatic right" does not appeal to many others then why are they the majority?

Because they are under the assumption that their "opinions" are FACTS. You cannot tell anyone (conservative, liberal) they are wrong when all they are doing is voicing their opinions, but most people dont see it that way. America is all about "diversity of opinion" I agree.....

Because it's fun! Seriously, I think a good-natured, hardy debate on fundamental differences is good, and should be encouraged. At least we are doing all our bashing in cyberspace and not on the streets like in some countries. We are at least that civilized. I'll take this kind of bashing any day.

I agree. However, I see the reverse. I see conservatives giving hateful and vile answers (one suggested that the liberal asking a question go abort a baby).
We need healthy discourse in this country from all sides!

It is a rhetorical tactic. By pre-bashing and villifying your adversaries before they even speak, adversaries tend not to bother to reply because: a) who wants to get bashed around? and b) over what? The same 'questions' don't actually ask anything of substance, there is no conversation, nothing to discuss.
The result: adversaries silence is taken as a sign of defeat, surrender, and 'validity' of the asker's point of view.

You don't want republicans bashing but your question was bashing republicans. It seems to me both parties are good at bashing the other. Perhaps you only see it that way because you are a democrat.
