If the sun would explode today, when would it be felt on earth?

They say light travels at the speed of sound,so what is the equivalent to the sun blowing up & it being felt or getting to earth?

It truly would be a radioactive curtain to envelope the earth and reverse blow it, and anything else within it's gravitational pull, back to center of where the sun "was" as a cataclyzmic disturbance like that could make a "black hole" Whoa talk about an empty feeling, gosh. There are no "Chunks" of the sun, It's gaseous, just ignited at present.

Light travels at the speed of light......187,000 miles per SECOND

that's like 7 laps around the world in one second

speed of sound at ground level is 714 miles per HOUR

As stated earlier, light takes 8 min to reach the earth from our closest star the sun.

If the sun explodes we would we blown away. The sun is basically a continual nuclear reaction. It's like a nuclear bomb that is constantly going off. It is primarily hydorgen and helium. And we are close enough to feel it's heat and definetly close enough to not have a tommorow if it blew up.

Our sun is about 91 million miles away, it is 330,000 times the mass of the earth

    About 8 minutes.

Light does not travel at the speed of sound.

    sound travels at 761 mi/hr.

    light travels at 186,282 mi/sec.

How fast the exploding sun reaches the earth is due to it's mass when it explodes. Of which I have no idea.

However we would all be vaporized by the heat and radiation way before it got here.

Well, If the sun exploded right now, it would be about 8 minutes untill you SEE it.

Then it would be untill the debris from the explosion reached here that you would FEEL it.

since huge chunks of the sun would take much longer to get here, you might have time for one last "quikie" with your lover before it was all over.

That would be an orgasm for the record books!

Light moves at the speed of light and we would start noticing effects in eight minutes.

It would take 8 minutes for us to know it happened. It takes about 8 minutes for sunlight to get to earth.
