What are recommended activities in Hong Kong in August for family with kids?
We have kids aged 4 and 10 and will stay in Hong Kong for three days. Please help recommend the top 3-4 things/places to do/go. On my list, from reading other Q/A's: The Peak, Night Ferry Ride, Stanley Market (?), Big Buddha (where?). What/where else? Thanks!

Okay, I'm definitely the right person to respond, as I'm sitting here typing this away in Hong Kong right now and you're on your way to one of the most exciting cities in the world!
You have children, so one of your TOP spots to go is Ocean Park! It's located on Hong Kong Island itself, and a bus from Admiralty MTR Station can take you there directly.
That's a wonderful day out for the entire family, I promise!
There is also a new Disney Land here; however, I would not recommend it. It's very small, not very well organized & it's really nothing compared to either of Disney's parks in the U.S.
Stanley Market is also on Hong Kong Island. Stanley is a beach, and there is a street market attached to it where you can do some shopping. You can get to Stanley via the number 6 or 6A City Bus from the bus terminus in Exchange Square, Central.
I would definitely recommend taking the Peak Tram up to the Peak, rather than a bus or cab. It's an experience in itself!
The Big Buddha is actually the largest outdoor seated bronze Buddha in the world. It's located on Lantau Island, the largest of Hong Kong's islands. You can either catch a ferry over to Lantau from the Outlying Island Ferry Pier in Central, then catch a bus once in Lantau (will be easy to locate), OR (if they are running once you arrive) you can take one of the coveted cable cars all the way to Lantau. I don't have too much info on this as although they have been launched, their testing failed, so you'll have to find out once you arrive here. Your hotel can definitely help you out with that one.
Both Hong Kong & Kowloon are wonderful to just walk around, your 3 days will pass by VERY quickly, so believe it or not you already have too much on your agenda!
It'll be REALLY hot & humid here in August, so PLEASE be prepared!
If there is anything at all I can help you with, any furthur suggestions or any more info you require, please just email me - I would be happy to assist in any way I can!
