Identical twins: how can they look so much alike and be so different?

They are actually 2 parts of a set of triplets, but the 3rd child is a boy, and these identicals are girls. One is dominant, the other is more submissive. They are so much alike, yet so very different. Is this common with identicals? Is it normal? They are 13 years old.

DNA is a basic plan and influences tendencies, but living and development can alter how one turns out. Even with twins, their share the DNA and other influences, but 'personalities' are not DNA influenced. You could take these same two and allow one to grow up in New York, and the other California - they would still be twins and share very similar characteristics, but their environments would tend to separate them. Yes, you'll find one more dominate - that's the good thing about even being twins - you still have the opportunity to 'be yourself'.

They may be genetically identical but they are still two different people. Two separate beings. They only look alike. Their brains are different.

Yes. Look at the Olsens twins (not now, when they were kids). they were totally different.

I have friends who are twins. One is crazy and wild and outgoing. The other thinks about her actions before doing them. It's perfectly normal.

In fact, I'd be kind of creeped out if they were the same inside and out. 0_0

personalities are not, for the most part, genetic, and as such, each child has their own personality that starts from within the womb.
