I would go with celica Toyotas are good lasting cars. My aunt had a 94 grand am in 95 and it run good but once something needed to be fixed it always needed something fixed. She would fix it then something else would go wrong. She finally sold it. They also have problems with the coolant system. I bought 96 in 98 and I had the same problem with over heating and once something broke and was fixed, something else would break. My aunt now owns a Toyota Camery 2005 and is so much happier and I had a tercel which was a great commuter car and I got my monies worth.

celica
why? you may ask... better gas mileage, they last about 2.5 times longer, and they are easy to fix if trouble does arise.
why do you think they are more expensive... plus a celica just looks cooler its way faster and you can change parts from stock to aftermarket very easily, if i had the money right now id be driving a celica

Toyota, definitely. They last forever and are pretty trouble-free.
A word of caution, though--they're also one of the most stolen cars in the US.
