What is the best way...?

to keep a 2 year old cool on hot days? My son has problems with regulating his body temp. Doctor always say just stay inside. So does that mean I have to keep him in for the next week. It's going to be in the 90 and 100 for the next week.

Get the thinnest, softest white washcloths or thick strong papertowels (Bounty is best, just a fact) and wrap them into a narrow strip. Tie them around his neck. Cowboys have done this forever...you could get him into cowboys if at first he rips them off. Oh..I forgot this part. Always keep the cloths moist and cold. Consider putting wetones in the fridge...within 5 minutes they will start to get icy but stay bendable. Give him ice water in a sippy cup constantly as well. Best wishes!

I would take him outside to play either early in the morning..be back inside by 10 am or so..then take him back out after 4-5pm when it cools down enough. A good way to pass the time is to put a couple inches of water in the tub and let him play with some toys...my boys loved to do that....

Take him out in the morning when it is cooler. You can do activities with him. Make sure he has suntan lotion on, a high SPF.

Exposure to the sun should be minimal. Wear a hat and possibly a thin/cool cotton shirt. Always have water for him to drink and encourage him to drink to avoid dehydration.

He should have a rest when the day is at its highest temperature.Do not expose to strenuous play.

My son didn't have a skin disease but I on the other hand don't do well in the heat.So anyways what I did I bought a plastic blow up turtle it came with different colored balls but you could put sand in it if you liked and the kid is supposed to play in it.Well what I did on the hot days I didn't feel like going outside I would fill that plastic turtle up with water sit on the kitchen floor place my son in there and let him do his thing and it worked out pretty fine I got the plastic turtle at ''Toys R Us"

keeping him indoors isn't necessary the hottest time of any day is from about 10/11 am all the way thru about 3. if you want to go outdoors that would be the best time. keep him hydrated, all cotton clothes, a hat and tons of water, hope it helps

Get a simple spray bottle, fill it with water, set it for a fine mist, and use it occasionally when he feels hot. You don't have to get him really wet. It's a great relief!

  • You have to keep him hydrated. Keep a cool rag and keep putting water on him.
