when you upgrade your psp does it take up space on the memory card?

When originally downloading it yes. After you activate the upgrade and the upgrade is complete you can delete the download from your memory card but the upgrade will still be on your PSP.

no, and it never goes on you damn memory card, it's in the psp's internall memory wich is just big enough to support updates..
