Air conditioner air return intakes?
My 2 air returns/intakes are close to my living room. When the A/C comes on, I have to blast my surround sound to hear over the air noise. I want to close them off and cut new intakes in the adjacent laundry room, hopefully to lessen the air noise. Is this a good idea? Why and/or why not?

No,this isn't a good idea i suggest you live with the noise the reason is for one u can;t take return air from a confined uncond. space, next it'll be taking away fresh combustion air away from the furnace and hot water heater and i say that because if it's a laundry room the tanks in there too.If u still want to do it hire only an Hvac professional to do it or if u know about sheetmetal still pay a service charge and get expert advice and good luck

The noise is more then likely the air going through the filter, the dirtier it gets the louder it gets, removing the filter will test this. If it still is to loud you may have to slow the blower motor down which may cause other problems. The most likely remedy is to increase the ducting too each return grill. And by no means do you want a return grill in yur laundry room cause of the amount of lint.

yes that will work however you will need to replace the laundry room door with a loover door because the return will be to great for 1 1/2 gap under the door
