Just trying to maintain sanity...making it do what it do.

  • Shih Tzu seizures...?

It is obvious from reading the many posts that there are NOT any "sure fire" remedies for dog seizures. My 12-year old Shih Tzu has been having an increased amount of "cluster" seizures over the past few weeks. With her being her age, it is probably best to put her "down", even though it is the furthest thing that I want to do (I decided not to get my own medication in order to afford a $458 emergency vet visit).

Today, as of this post, has been the longest duration of a seizure. I've read one post about someone's dog that ate dark chocolate and went into a seizure, and one of the comments made is that the owner should be at the vet versus wasting time on Ask or on the internet doing "self research". In this regard, the 24-hour emergency vet that I took my dog to was more focused on other things (for a dog her age) other than the seizures...so with that in mind (even though I do love my dog), I think it is best that she is put "down".

There is no remedy, and the "treatments" only SEEM to sustain the animals' life for a short period of time, resulting in the inevitable fact that the animal dies. Since we (as humans) do not know if animals are in pain (except do to some severe trauma, e.g. stepping on its tail, or something along those lines), it seems best (not only for myself) but for my dog that she no longer suffers(?).

So, my question to any who read this is (if this was you): would you put your pet out of its "misery" or continue to suffer (yourself) watching your pet (possibly suffer as well) convulse, urinate, fall down when trying to walk, have severe twitching, etc.?

If you (the reader) choose to provide your experiences and medications given, feel free to give your information, but the question being posed is whether to put your pet "down" or continue to watch these occurrences?

To add, the first time I noticed her having a seizure was maybe 2 years ago, and (to my knowledge) it only happened once then...of late, the seizures have been multiple times daily, increasing in duration and amounts.

Thanks...and by-the-way: the name that you see (WhoCares) is the name that I use when responding to certain news/media posts, so please do not consider it in your responses.

  • An old HBO horror movie question?

HBO played this movie some 20+ years ago, so it wouldn't surprise me if this question is not answered about this movie.

The opening scene takes place in a court room. There's a Black female judge sitting on the bench - the camera focuses sharply on her pouring a tall glass of crystal-clear water; she takes a deep drink, and the scene continues, refocusing on the attorney's bickering.

The camera pans to the judge, as she has been repetively clearing her throat (possibly coughing: not certain). The baliff asks if she's okay, would she like some more water, and (in my mind's eye) she looks down, eyes filled with terror, at the partially-filled glass.

She begins to convulse, grasping at her throat, almost as if she can no longer inhale. Suddenly, there is the painfully load scream - a quick pan left to the court room audience: there's a woman standing with her hand over her (still screaming) mouth, pointing at the judge. Another quick pan, then zoom on the judge: there's blood coming out of her eyes, ears, (okay, all noticeable orifices).

The person on the witness stand recoils in horror, as the judge begins to convulse more...suddenly, she stops, but within a split-second of her stopping, her head explodes (no, not Scanners).

The plot of this movie is some disgruntled guy was out targeting judges because he either falsely accused of something, or the justice system did him an injustice. His method of attack was putting some undetectable to the eye chemical in their water. The chemical remained dormant until the water is consumed.

The climax is when a detective (doctor, reporter...not certain) discovers that guy's final assault was to contaminate a large splash fountain in front of the state's Supreme Court building, where (on this particular day) the judges' kids would have been (or were) out playing, but none had actually swallowed any of the water (presumed).

QUESTION: does anyone remember this movie, and if so: its title? For some odd reason, I thought Gene Simmons (KISS) was in it, but I've googled, even IMDbed his movies: none fit...thanks bunches!

  • Obama or McCain - Black or White?

I am quite certain questions like these have been asked, and I am quite certain a plethora of answers across all lines will result, so...

    1) Would you vote for a particular candidate simply because of his/her ethnic origin?

    2) Is it wrong or unwise to vote for a particular candidate only on the basis of ethnicity?

    3) Would you vote for the opposite party based upon the candidates' merits regardless of ethnic origin?

    4) Do you consider it wrong, lacking prudence or sound judgment if Blacks/African Americans say they will only vote for Obama?

    5) Likewise, do you consider it wrong, lacking prudence or sound judgment if Whites/Anglos say they will only vote for McCain?

  • Why do Lesbians dislike Gays - isn't this a form of Gay bashing, a hypocrisy of Same Gender relationships?

I've never understood why Same Gender Loving females have so much distaste, hatred even for the opposite sex - even if that member of the opposite sex is a Same Gender Loving male. True, I've been in the company of SGL men who can't stand "fish" so maybe this question should be equally posed to SGL men who dislike females.

I've heard/read that SGL women encounter situations where men pose as SGL men & try to convert the SGL women, or try to convince them to participate in a 3-some but this (to me) is no reason to bare such hatred.

My dilema is that I'm tired of only being around guys & would like to be friends with the opposite gender WITH NO ULTERIOR MOTIVES but every Lesbian site I've visited has been moderated, blocking male membership. And in reading some of the posts that the members have left regarding gay men joining their sites are simply deplorable, horrible, just down-right hateful.

And Straight women may think that I want their men so...your thoughts on this.

  • Air conditioner air return intakes?

My 2 air returns/intakes are close to my living room. When the A/C comes on, I have to blast my surround sound to hear over the air noise. I want to close them off and cut new intakes in the adjacent laundry room, hopefully to lessen the air noise. Is this a good idea? Why and/or why not?
