Yes, you are right they are entirely different, jinns are mentioned in the Quran and you can take they bear religious meaning, but Ghost has nothing in common with any religious implication..( also that's dependable from the language you derive them).

These "entities" are different, jins, holy spirit/ holy ghost and "ghost".

"Holy Spirit" in Christians is one of the personalities in "Trinity". In "Trinity" there are the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. All are considered one God with three different personalities.

"Holy Spirit" from Islamic perspective is actually refers to the angel Gibrael. Muslims do not believe "Holy Spirit" as God. For Muslims there is only one God. In Arabic, Holy Spirit is called "Rohul Quddus".

"Holy Ghost" is another name of "Holy Spirit". In Islam, the Muslims never use the words Holy Ghost.

"Ghost" in general is considered as spiritual being. Some muslims believe that there are ghosts in this world. But actual Islamic teaching says that there are only "jins" and no "ghost".

Muslim.Jins are made from fire .Holy spirits are totally invisible and some are writing our good and bad works and some are busy in worshiping Allah.I think so we call spirits and jins as ghosts .I don't know about ghosts and I am not conformed that whether do they really exist but I am sure that spirits and Jins exist, as satan was also a jin.

The Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) is the spirit of God sent to dwell within man. See the Bible, Acts Chapter 2, verse 38 for starters.
