Wouldn't it be more accurate if we renamed the Christian Right the Christian Rote?

By christian right, I mean the fundamental, radical, extremists Christians like Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and most of the fundamental southern baptists I've met.

After hearing all of the brainwashed, repeated word-for-word, cloned answers from the christian right, I propose we rename the christian right the christian rote.

It seems like some Christians just let their spiritual leaders do the thinking for them, without bothering to question anything. Shouldn't people question their pastors? Especially since the congregation is following the pastor's message to do the will of God. Seems like something you wouldn't want to take with a grain of salt. When they repeat it, it's like a trained monkey responding to stimuli. So, anyone else for christian rote?

If you don't know what "rote" means, be a rebel clone and go look it up. Dictionary.com!

Update:

Seriously, schoolandgolf. Jesus' teachings were some of and remain some of the most liberal teachings in religion. Jesus taught tolerance and not to judge. The "christian rote" quotes the Bible and uses it as a weapon to judge anyone who doesn't believe what they believe. Basically you just spewed some "rote" that I speak of.

Educated, intelligent opposition is accepted!

All Western religions involve absorbing dogma and arbitrary moral standards through rote. I would even go as far as to say it's mass hypnosis. If you study persuasive psychology and groupthink you will see that religion and their rituals are a near perfect example of both.

Religious followers will deny this of course, but that is because this denial is implanted at an early age and shored up by a lifetime of repeated suggestions.

You make a good point. A lot of Christ's messages are repeated. For the most part, you have to realize that Jesus' plan of salvation is black and white. It needs to be repeated so everyone hears it. For every other subject, it could depend on the person; some believe so strongly in one area that they feel convicted by the Holy Spirit to say it. I can't speak for the Falwells, or the Robertsons, or anyone else. Frankly, I don't listen to them. It isn't that I don't believe them, I just don't listen.

If you are unsure about what you hear, then the best thing to do is read the bible, and pray of course. If you aren't saved, it may be difficult to understand some of what you hear, or read. Don't feel bad, a lot of Christians, including myself have a hard time understanding the bible.

Some people make the mistake of interpreting their impression of someone's mentioning of sins, or a particular sin as threatening, or maybe singling you out. Don't always feel that way; if you hear christians talk about let's say, lust, and you were looking at your neighbor's girlfriend ealier that day in a lustful way, then it might be the Holy Spirit talking to you, accept it.

Don't be quick to be offended. Also, if you ask for a Christian's opinion, or have a question, be prepared to get an answer you may not like - just remember, you asked. You can find me if you have anymore questions. Take care.
