Who are the members of your Dead Band?

No, Rock n' Roll will never die.....but over the years a lot of Rock n' Rollers *have*, in fact, died.

So i would like you to select your own personal Dead Band.

Here are the ground rules:

Your band can have between three and five members.

Your band *must* have a drummer, a bass player, and a guitar player.

There must be at least one singer.

One or more of the band members must compose their own music.

And all of them have to be *dead*.

Please list your band members, what instrument(s) they play (if applicable), whether or not they can sing lead and/or back-up vocals, who among them are composers, and what band or bands they played for (in case i do not recognize one or more of your choices). And please be sure they are dead.

And *sell* me on your Dead Band. Convince me *why* these people would make a great band. *Make* me want to pay good money to go and see them play after i'm dead.

I will award a Best Answer to the person who convinces me that their Dead Band is the best Dead Band of all.

(Note: i am not just going to automatically pick an answer from one of my favourite people. I really am going to pick the answer i feel is best.)

Update:

I will keep this question open for at least a few more days. So for those who need a bit more time (you know who you are!), it'll still be here.

(Ok, ok, it *may* have been too long and complicated for a first-time question.....but i'll try to do better with the ones to follow.)

Update 2:

To Ms. Fever!!! : You are welcome for that answer! It was what i felt then, and what i feel now. I guess you just bring that out in me. (blushing)(but not in embarrassment)

And as to my question, it came to me in the shower. I do a lot of my best thinking there. And since i take long showers.....i think that's why the question turned out so long, as well. (True story!)

    Lead Vocals: Freddy Mercury (Queen)

    Guitar: Frank Zappa

Bass: Cliff Burton (original Metallica bassist)

    Drums: Jon Bonham (Led Zeppelin)

Of these four musicians, you are probably most familiar with Freddy Mercury and Jon Bonham's work. They are obvious choices. Cliff Burton, while not so obvious, was an excellent bassist.

If you aren't familiar with Frank Zappa's music, you should be. He was a great songwriter, and a phenomenal guitar player. Although he never got much mainstream success, he was (and still is) among the greatest guitarists in the world.

Frank Zappa and Freddy Mercury both wrote great songs (and let's not forget Freddy Mercury's great tenor voice). Frank Zappa wrote not only Rock music, but Classical music as well. His son, Dweezil, is a great guitarist, trained by Steve Vai and Eddie Van Halen, and he admits that he can't play a lot of his dad's music because it is so complex.

Lead Singer: Jim Morrison, not many people know this but Jim was also an accomplished keyboard player, so he would also play keyboards. Songwriter

Lead Singer: Janis Joplin. With Jim Morrison, what a duo! Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll - on stage! Janis could play a mean guitar. Songwriter

Lead Singer: Marvin Gaye - We have to have a bit of black 'influence', and I would have loved to have heard Jim, Janis and Marvin sing 'Sexual Healing' Marvin could also play a bit of piano. Songwriter

Drummer: John Bonham Speaks for itself, one of the best.

Bass: John Entwistle - Not only could Entwistle play bass, but he played piano, horn and trumpet.

Holy sh*t! I would take them on a world tour.

The 'Tales from the Tomb' World Tour!

Sorry Jimi H, John L, Keith M, Bob M, Freddie M, Frank Z, George H, etc you guys will have to wait for 'Tales from the Tomb' World Tour 2!

Source(s): Many of my vinyl LP covers. Wonder how many people remember them?

Hmm there first song is gonna be called I:m not really pissed off I died :O)

This song was actually inspired by me and kurt wrote it with micheal hutchen in L.A they also wrote 5 more songs called I’m gonna rock the ground, happy to lived, never gonna die again and dieing isn’t that much fun…also she gives me FEVER!!! .:)

And there you go I’m done

Ahhhh!!!! ( you know I’m better with questions like what did you have for lunch or which side do you sleep on)

And what I would like to know now is ( where did you get the idea for this Q)>..:)

Lead singer- Roy Orbison, also a song writer

Back up- The late, great Ray Charles, and pianist

Guitar- Stevie Ray Vaughn, the greatest ever

Drums- Buddy Rich- If you've never heard him, then you haven't experienced drumming at its best.

Each ones legacy, speaks for themselves, no need for a sales pitch from this gal.
