If the doctor told you tht the baby's chest is clear, then the congestion is in his nsal passages. This is caused by sinus infection or allergies. Since the baby is so young, you really can't treat him with otc meds. You can go to walgreens or walmart and purchase some nasal saline solutions(make sure it is for babies).Put two to six drops in each nostirl and hold his head back for six to ten seconds. next, get a nasal aspirator(nose pump) and pump his nose out. He is going to scream like there is no tommorrow, but he will be able to breathe better. You can you Nasal saline solution as many times as needed throughout the day. Try to keep his nasal passage clear with this, but if he is still sounding very congested, take him back to the doctor and ask about his sinuses and allergies.Make sure you mention the crying. It may be caused by the pain of infection and need antibiotics. I hope this helps....GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS

It is normal for babies at that age to have constant congestion. Its part of them growing up mine is 4 months now and he doesn't get as congested but still has buggies.. anyway I use the nasal aspirator, the doctor also told me to use saline drops then suck the mucus out with the aspirator I personally didn't use saline drops but he is growing out of this state anyway. If he fights a pacifier that may mean he doesn't like it and therefore you shouldn't try to force it on him. I hear that not all babies need pacifiers. What I do when my precious angel is fussy I give him a bath before bed time, then put the baby cream then sing, and nurse him and read him his bedtime story.. he then goes to sleep and no more fussy at all. Good luck, sorry my answer is so long I just know what you are going through. Oh and yes its normal.

I have a 3 month old daughter and she sounds stuffy almost all the time. My doctor said her sinuses are still swollen. He also said that she COULD have allergies.

I'd watch putting him on his stomach though. I've read several places that this is one of the causes of SIDS. I only lay my daughter on her stomach when I'm in the room close by.

My daughter also fights sleep. She is now to the point that the gliding rocker only works when she is very sleepy. Hang in there. I'm no expert but everyone keeps telling me to hang in there and go with my gut. IF you think something is really wrong with your son get a second opinion.

    Good luck!

Its not good for babies to sleep on their tummies, especially if they have troubles breathingit significantly increases SIDS. Try elevating his matress or sleeping area with pillows under the matress so that his head is elevated higher then the rest of him.

Also if his nose is congested you can use a few drops of saline solution (found in any drugstore just ask the pharmcist) and a nasal asperator (thoose little blue bulb suction things). Just drop a drop or 2 in each nostril (he will hate it) and suck it out. the drops lossens any flem that may be blocking his airway. It worked when my boys were babies and their doc told me to do this.

Lastly if that doesnt work and its not a cold or allergy. Ask the doctor if its possible that his nasal or sinus cavaties might be slightly abnormal. you might have to take him to a specialist for this.

My daughter had the same problem. It sounds like the babys nasal passages are swollen. She got that since birth because the shoved the snot sucker up there to hard when she came out. She is about three years old now and she still has breathing problems.

The other problem sounds like colic my daughter also had that it was so frustraiting! All you can do is try to soothe them..rocking them, singing to them, also you can see if switching your formula to soy it might help.

How long has he been like this? A couple things....have you suctioned out his nose?......ask his doctor if you can use a saline nasal spray. The little guy sounds like he's having problems breathing. I know people don't approve but at times like this I used to let my daughter sleep with me,,,,,it seemed to calm her down.

My son constantly has that problem. It turned out to be his allergies. I use Little Noses decongestant nose drops and Little Noses saline spray. After I put either of those in his nose I sit him up for a couple of seconds and then lay him back down so I can suction out the snot. Hope this helps you out.

I would seriously find another pediatrician, tell that doctor that your lungs can sound just fine but your head and nose totally congested.
