In Colorado... What qualifications are needed to be a preschool teacher or director?
We are looking into moving to Colorado, and where we live in California, I hold a Master Teacher's level Child Development Permit. The teaching matrix is different for Colorado than in California, and they have something titled a "Group Leader". What kind of college units are needed to be a preschool teacher/group leader? Is there some kind of proficiency test you must take if moving from out of state? How much field experience is required? I have tried looking up info on the Colorado child services website, but it says it is under construction. Any info from current teachers/directors in Colorado would be appreciated.

Here's the "quick fix" checklists for licence transfers from out of state in Colorado:
First, read these FAQ's and look at any related links in them:
http://www.cde.state.co.us/cdeprof/Licensure_outst...
Then, look at the alternative licensure info. It appear to be that you have two choices... a 1-year full-time coursework plan or a 2-year already working part-time plan (Teacher in Residence).

For hiring information, including preschool:
https://gateway.cde.state.co.us/portal/page?_pagei...
You will need to create an id and password.
Here's a job opening posting that describes/explains their preschool positions, at least for sped (there were other postings with inadequate descriptions given your question):

Hope this helps!
