1) Right-click desktop and choose properties
2) Click the Settings tab
3) Move the Screen Resolution slider towards the right (I use 1280 by 1024) and click apply. Try out several resolutions and use the one suitable for you.
Note: If you are not allow to change the resolution, reinstall your video driver. The easiest way to do this is through a windows update. Click custom, then click hardware on the left. You should then have an option to install the latest version of your video driver.

Right click on your desktop and select "Properties". Then click the "Settings" tab. Check your screen resolution; make sure it is on a high setting like 1024x768 or higher. Also, make sure that you have not activated Large Icons.
Assuming you are using Windows XP, try the following:

sounds like you screen resolution has defaulted to thee lowest system value of 800x600 click on video card properties and select the highest resolution that still gives a good picture.
if you only have the 800x600 resolution option windows has not loaded either the driver or software for your video card. the driver is provided by the manufacturer on floppy or CD or down-loadable the software is either windows generic or manufacturer's specific.
