If you believe in yourself, why believe in God?

God believers must not truly believe in themselves

If you think the only way to believe in yourself is to believe in God, you're crazy

Dont say that God is in you so you have to believe in God. Thats just some bullshit

You dont trust yourself so you have to have an imaginary friend to watch your back

There's absolutely no way you can believe in yourself if it has to be accompanied by your skydaddy

Christians didn't always have God in their life therefore they are not exempt from believing in themselves. Do you believe that you can rise above and be a better person by not continually calling Christian beliefs "BS". Some of your family members believe in God. Why not look at them? Do they believe in themselves before God and after God? Look at the mirror at yourself and ask why do you spend time here at question other beliefs? Charlie, I pray that your motives are genuine and that you are truly seeking. God can bless your life and your music if you allow him in your heart.

I don't understand your question. I believe that I exist, and I believe that God exists. These beliefs are not exclusive, and I can actually rather easily believe both of these things without too much difficulty.

Are you asking if we can have self confidence and believe that God is helping us at the same time? If so, then maybe. But some people become awfully confident in their abilities as soon as they think that God has chosen them to do something important. Look at our idiot child-president, for instance.

So you think that if you believe God is guiding your actions then you have no self confidence. That is a truly odd conjecture. Maybe believeing in God gives some people a special brand of self-confidence in an area that they otherwise would have none. Have you ever felt unsure of yourself?

Also, it is incredibly impolite to refer to what could very possibly be someone else's beliefs as bullshit. Just like if I told you that not believeing in God is just a bullshit cop-out to make you feel like you can do immoral things without consequences so long as they are "legal." I personally don't believe either of the bulshit statements made, but you get the idea.

Anyway, in summation, believeing that you can only do something with God's help is not quite true self confidence, you're right. But that particular lack of confidence has led some people to have all the confidence they could ever need and more.

Mahalo, friend, and peace be with you.

I believe that I am God-sent. I am apsolutelly flawless. The fact that I am similar to other people is that I appear as such and my true nature is immortal; the second reason is that I take the sins of others on me because I am compassionate.

You will not believe me. This is because of your sins and because the appearance of the Golden Buddha will cause great envy and jealosy.

I have met much condemnation in my country. It is because, as one prophet states: "There is no way to know that one preaches true teaching except throught appearance of demons in others". That means that the only proof that I am God-sent is because many people insult me and criticize me.

If I were ordinary mortal, nobody would be upset about my teaching, but because my soul is immortal and I am supreme good in this world, such obstacles arise.

People can insult me, hurt me and they can even kill my mortal body. Anyway, my immortal existence has always been, is now and will always be. I am forever part of eternal light. It is your problem if you believe or not.

Well yes... I sort of agree with you Charlie but belief in yourself, alone is sometimes a rather tough thing to do... that's the time for family and friends and that's where communities and support groups, (not excluding churches, mosques, synagogues and temples,) have their useful place in our lives.

If God steps into the picture for those who choose that course, well, that's a good thing in most situations, as long as their belief system doesn't lead them along like a sheep without a thoughtful brain.

But yes... first you must believe in yourself above all; and then, accept the truth that you are not almighty; and, that there are people around you who are there to help out when they're called upon - we're all brothers and sisters, after all.

(I checked out your link... wowzer! Nice piece-a-work.)

Because self centered egotism is another one of the roots of the worlds problems.

I am agnostic....which is not the same as atheism.

I believe in something ....but I don't know the nature of that something.

But I don't think GOD is an individual that can be defined in human terms.

The muscular angry guy with the beard and anger management issues smiting here and smiting there and sending forth hurricanes and earthquakes and exploding volcanos to punish the little squishy things does not work for me.

Where have you been to end up thinking this way?

If you bought a car, would you ignore the manual that came with it, or would you go along with it?

If the manual says to change the oil every 2,000 miles, would you think you are losing your freedom if you did that?

If someone accused you of needing a crutch because you accept to do what the manual says, would you believe them?

What if you're on the operating table and the surgeon tells you he never paid attention to the books at University because he is his own man ....would you tell him to proceed?

All that to say: The one who made life is best placed to talk about how to use it.

    That is just common sense.

In Him (God) we live and move and have our being.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3 5-6

We were made by God and for God.

    Romans 1 v 18 says

But God shows His anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who push the truth away from themselves. For the truth about God is known to them instinctively. God has put this knowledge in their hearts. From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and the sky and all that God made. They can clearly see His invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God.

God is the belief that motivates me to believe in myself.....I completely believe in myself because I know that I am a creation of God and there is a purpose for me on this planet...I'm here as a part of God's plan because everyone is....and I could only believe in myself after I decided to believe in God....if u put ur question in ur way it may seem pretty right....but its ur choice to believe in him or not......but if u can take my word for it...its a pretty good feeling knowing that there is someone watching out for u in every step of ur life and carrying u in his arms when ur down and lonely...I'm saying this because I truly have experienced the Love of God....

You can believe in yourself all you like but it won't save you from your sins. Only the blood Jesus Christ shed at Calvary can do that. Ask Him to forgive, remove and cleanse you from your sins by the blood He shed for you at Calvary and turn from your sins to live the rest of your life for Him and you will be saved and go to heaven. There is no other way. Do it without delay. You may not have another day.

Perhaps, YOU are the idiot. I don't understand why the two are mutually exclusive. You believe in yourself and you believe in your mother's support and guidance that helped you to believe in yourself. Why does believing in God have to be any different? And why are you so threatened by our belief in God that you have to insult us? Maybe you are not as strong in your non-belief as you say.
