Ipod - shuffle is not not working..?

I have had it since December and has worked fine (easy to use, download songs, etc.) It could be used for up to twelve hours without having to charge it... it all of a sudden no longer will hold it's charge. I have tried to charge it the past two days in a row, once on the computer and once on a wall charger. Any suggestions... it was a gift, I have no receipt and no longer have the original box.

    The iPod uses a lithium-ion battery that can only be charged up to a couple of times. Then you have to send it back to Apple, and they will install a new battery.
