What do you think about the government getting into our restaurant now ?

I heard today that in Chicago they are going to pass a law that no restaurant can use anything containing trans-fats.The food police are on the loose!!

Update:

I know all about health inspections and they are a good thing. I am talking about regulating ingredients. When people go to a retaurant they are offered enough of a variety so they can choose healthy or not.

doing away with trans-fats is not such a bad idea but i think i know where your coming from.

they are not always right about the choices they make for us.

they make to many decisions for us without caring about our opinions.

we are still allowed to speak, they just dont listen anymore.

So let's see; restaurants can't sell food containing trans-fats, but your local grocery store can sell cigarettes? Where's the logic here?

Following this logic, the government might have to actually do something real about fuel efficiency standards (less toxic carbon in the atmosphere, which we all have to breathe!). Where will it go from there? Addressing global warming? Noooooooooooo

We live in a free country. If people want to eat grass they should have the right to do so. As long as the guy selling grass isn't telling you you can live on it or it's good for you, then let people eat what they wish.

Government goes to far when they try and regulate everything. (and people call me a liberal, LOL)

That's because in most cases, through food preparation trans fats are added to add substance and increase shelf life of products

You think this a brand new thing? Government has been regulating restaurants for probably 50 years.

Hon, the government has been getting into our restaurants for quite awhile. Or would you like them to do away with the Heath Department and its restaurant inspectors, too?

It is the liberal law makers that pass things that they think are good for you.

They want to rule your life in the most minute way

I'm glad they are there... means I won't get sick and die if I eat somewhere with poorly prepared food!
