Top Car Movies - What do you recommend?
I am looking for non-mainstream movies about fast cars and was wondering if you would recommend your favorite and why. If someone already mentioned yours, then provide your 2nd favorite - looking for a no repeat week-end. (Also, its a given that I have seen Corvette Summer and DeathRace 2000). Thanks for your time and recommendations!
The "non-mainstream" reference is to hopefully encourage movies that I am not familiar with without my having to list the ones I am aware of (e.g., Mad Max trilogy, Transporter I & II, Ronin, Bullitt, Smokey and the Bandit(s), Cannonball Run, Fast & Furious(s), etc.).
I think Hot Rod had a Top 50 listing several years ago, but I wanted to throw it open to a wider audience.
Thanks again.

Not exactly sure what you're looking for on the whole "non-mainstream" angle, but there are so many good movies with cars as the focal point (or with great chase scenes) that it's hard to narrow it down. The original version of Gone In 60 Seconds is very very good. Other ones to try: Bullitt, The Last American Hero, The Driver, Vanishing Point, and Two Lane Blacktop. Good luck finding that last one; think it's been out of print since the 80's. But try your hardest to find it, because it stars James Taylor and Dennis Wilson. Seriously!

Hmmmmm.
What about Ron Howard's "Eat My Dust?" It's kind of corny, but fun to watch...
There's the old "Smokey and the Bandit" films..
I'll way assume you've seen the "Fast & The Furious" flicks.
There are, of course, racing flicks..like "Days of Thunder" (ick), the horrid "Driven" and "Grand Prix."
There's "Le Mans," and, hey, if you want to be really goofy you could go back to the "Herbie: Love Bug" films.
Paul Newman's "Winning" is a really good one.
"Stroker Ace" from Burt Reynolds is amusing at times.
That's about all I can think of right now.
