Why do religious fanatics insist on quoting the Bible to people that obviously don't believe in it?

Well according to John 14:4 word 8, "the". Doesn't that make you believe in the Bible more or should I quote it again?

Well, the Bible makes references about spreading the word. But I see one of your points. God didnt write the Bible himself. It was written by ordinary mortals, just like us. Look at how biased and opinionated people are today. Why were the people that wrote it any different? I believe much of the Bible to an extent. But I believe that the authors of the scriptures incorporated their own predjudices and biased agendas in it. For instance, the passage that states women are supposed to submit to their husbands. Perhaps the author was afraid a woman would aquire more power than him, so he put his own agenda in there. There are plenty of men, that if they were writing the Bible today, would put something like that in there. Women too!

I'll answer your question, but what I'm really wondering is if you're asking it because you honestly want to know or to voice your opinion.

"Religious fanatics," as you call them, live to spread God's word. They understand that they are blessed and happy because God is in their lives. They make better choices and and have fewer regrets. They want to share their happiness, and the way to do that is to share the source.

As for whether or not you believe the Bible is influenced by God, it still gives guidelines on how we should live our lives. An endless number of testimonies can back that up.

First people that quote the bible aren't fanatics until they're trying to CONVERT/MANIUPLATE you to their way of thinking. There's a difference between just referring to Scripture and trying to use it as a tool to Convert. The reason fanatics use the Bible aside from trying to convert you is to justify various actions they take in their lives and avoid responisbility for same. PEACE!

Second, it gives them a feeling of security, as they are giving you the Word of God (never mind that it has gone thorugh so many editors, it merely represents the Word of God)

I think it would be different if GOD WROTE THE BIBLE....which he didn't..... any part of it....NONE of it.....

To me, the Bible is a good story of being nice to one another, a guideline on which to live your life and treat others...

Apart from that, it's a STORY.... written by MAN.... and taken way too literally by way too many people.....

Because for somebody who believes in the Bible, that is our authority for everything that we say and do (Colossians 3:17). The only authority an atheist has - or can have - is, "That's what I want."

I think mainly because that is the basis of their belief.

You believe in science, but what if I asked you to prove something without using science because I didn't believe in it?

Because they have not saught God within themselves, have not internalized Jesus teachings and therefore they try to convince themselves and others through an outer authority, an outer doctrine.
