Why are people against gay marriage?

The usual arguments revolve around children.

These gay people are having sex for fun, not procreation, so they are consumed with lust.

It also gives a society's stamp of approval for a lifestyle that is an abomination (to some) and can give rise to widespread increase in the total number of gays there are.

(I find these arguments against a bit specious. Gayness is not some kind of hot trend)

If all men married men and all women married women the human species would cease to exist in a 100 years. So, homosexuality goes against nature and the best long term interest of humans.

Also, a Christian, Muslim or Jew can't be for homosexual marriage without compromising their faith. It comes down to this: Do you believe your faith's doctrine or not? It clearly states homosexuality is a sin, therefore wrong. It cannot be condoned.

it is against God's law that men marry men or women marry women. God put man and woman on this earth to multiply and live together as one.as far as asking forgiveness, you not just have to ask for forgiveness you have to have faith and follow in his word, which would mean no homosexuality/lesbianism. you cant be a fence rider and have the luxury of both good and bad and think you'll get into heaven..doesn't work that way.

Because they don't believe that there should be rights based on sexual preferences.

I don't see what the argument is all about?

Well it is a sin... i mean... arguing that embrasing homosexuality isn't a sin is like trying to argue that stealing, adultry, etc isn't a sin.

Marriage is a purely religious act....

I'm with knowitall on this one. Who cares. Let them do what they want to do. I just hate close minded people.

I say, Who gives a ****!! Do what you want!! And don't even get me started on the church....
