Why do people support gay marriage?
Some people say it destroys the sanctity of marriage, but hasn't divorce and adultery already done that?
Others state it is a sin, but the Bible has only four implied admonishments against homosexuality and over 350 admonishments against heterosexuality. If marriage is a sin, then in theory the gay couple just has to find "God" and ask for forgiveness for their sins to get into heaven.
Then there is the argument that gays should have the rights of a married couple, but does not violate equal rights and the separation of church and state?
Who does gay marriage really hurt? The economy could definitely benefit from the money used and circulated for gay marriages?
I would like to know as many arguments supporting gay marriage as possible.

The sad reality is people will judge no matter what...the real kicker is it's these judgmental people that ALSO call themselves christian! *nice* what ever happened to "judge not lest ye be judged"?? If they only would stop to think that God created gays...it is a scientific fact that it is something one is born with, not a lifestyle choice. Given these scientific facts, then gays should be able to marry whomever they want. Who are we to say what is right and what is wrong?? Everyone deserves to be loved, and EVERYONE deserves to be married if they so choose...no matter if it's to the opposite or same sex person. Obviously to pair a man and a woman doesn't always equal happiness, so why put restrictions on gay marriages? dunno. I have performed a gay marriage, and although it was not legal in the eyes of the state, it was legal in the eyes of the couple and their witnesses...and it was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I have had the priviledge to officiate.
Bottom line is people need to lighten up and mind their own business.

I am not sure this issue will ever be resolved. I believe it is people such as my grandparents and parents that were raised in a time when even the "colored" people were an issue. My mom remembers the "Puerto Rican boys" that lived in her community as being the "troublemakers" that she was told to stay away from. I believe eventually as the people that created many of the taboo social cliques pass on that the new generations that have learned the old bible song Jesus loves all the children of the world and truly bound it to thier life will gladly sign the documents in the polls to be passed. I am very sorry for those who have to endure the circumstances of a poorly mannered society. Though my mother was raised by very small minded parents she did not take it with her into her life. She moved from NY to Hawaii many years ago and did have a hard time at first being that the gay population on the island she is on tends to be high. Though since she has several employees that she would hate to be without that are of gay orientation and treats them as if they are family. In 2000 I married a man that is in the US Coast Guard and my mother loves him to death....he is 100 % Puerto Rican and we are living in San Juan now. I believe change is coming, people no matter of sexual orientation deserve to be treated as normal everyday citizens who pay taxes, raise good kids, buy homes, take care of thier parents as they age, mow the lawn, walk the dog and have bbq's. It is too bad that the TV world couldn't show that instead of hamming it up on Will and Grace (even though I love that show) Maybe people need to see the "regular" side of a gay relationship and get their minds off the "nasty" side, meaning all the drama and what goes on behind closed doors. That is in my opinion what freaks people out the most, not that it is any of their business but as a society we see sex in our everyday lives. I don't want my 5 year old to see two men making out any more than I want her to see two teenagers on a billboard getting into it. The economy could benefit from any added spending yes but that is not going to solve our countries economic problems, one could only hope it would solve the small minded ones....

Marriage is a social contract between 2 people to commit to spending their lives together. It is a legal entity defined by the State and people who can legally marry others are licesnsed by the state they reside in. It's a secular thing, so your separation of church and state argument doesn't hold up.
I've been married by judges in the court house. Not a preacher in sight.
Gay marriage hurts NO ONE. People who are against it are control freaks who think they have the right to say what others can and cannot do.

i feel whatever you do in your life is nobodys biz your relationship means more than a piece of paper however for so many legal issues i think you should be able to marry I see it happen all the time the lover dies he spends 15 yrs with his partner they aquire material things together then the long lost family who never gave a crap and was ashamed to tell anyone there son or brother was gay come along and bring a f ing ulhaul with them and wipe the partners house out sometimes kicking the partner out of the home they have shared together ,taking everything away from someone at such a horrible time i think is horrable,i am so for gay marriges.if you cant get married get it on paper dont think it cant happen I was an attorney in miami for 6 yrs and that all I saw were cases like that.

To say the economy could definitely benefit from the money used and circulated for gay marriages is about the dumbest thing I ever heard.
My position is this........ you want to be gay and married? Fine. That's got nothing to do with me. What I despise is that gays have made their gayness an in your face issue. You want to be gay and married? Knock yourself out. Just keep it to yourself. Quit advertising your sexuality and trying to force it down every one Else's throat.
Straight people don't go around flaunting and proclaiming their straightness. You keep it to yourself. Gee! Maybe straight people should have a heterosexual parade every year. We could march through downtown proclaiming and celebrating our straightness!
I can accept gay people marrying. But continue to be in our face with your sexuality....... and I'll oppose gay rights until hell freezes over.

I was not put on this earth to judge others. Why is it my place to decide who someone else loves. Those Christians out there, that discriminate against homosexuality, that's wrong. God will judge, and maybe he will feel like I do... Love who you want, live a happy life, and don't pretend to be something your not...

This might not be what you want....but Gay people have the right to be just as miserable as every other married person...
