Why do people support gay marriage?

Some people say it destroys the sanctity of marriage, but hasn't divorce and adultery already done that?

Others state it is a sin, but the Bible has only four implied admonishments against homosexuality and over 350 admonishments against heterosexuality. If marriage is a sin, then in theory the gay couple just has to find "God" and ask for forgiveness for their sins to get into heaven.

Then there is the argument that gays should have the rights of a married couple, but does not violate equal rights and the separation of church and state?

Who does gay marriage really hurt? The economy could definitely benefit from the money used and circulated for gay marriages?

I would like to know as many arguments supporting gay marriage as possible.

Because it is freedom for all - if they are sexually attracted different to the norm, who's fault is it ? Shouldn't they be happy too ? Why be so self centered?

Marriage benefits are given by a government to protect families. Married people who have children have provided the next generation of tax payers to society. A society that has no children will die out. This is the main secular argument; however, I don't think it necessarily holds water. Heterosexual couples that don't have children are not descriminated against.

Personally, I have no problem with gay marriage. They're not hurting anyone. Who cares? Still, the idea that married hets get more benefits is also a myth. Married couples pay more in taxes. There is a marriage penalty. All other legal issues (such as power of attorney and rights to inherit) can be easily handled through executed wills.

In short, most of the arguments for and against gay marriage are based on shaky ground at best. The main argument for gay marriage is that it hurts no one, and is really a moral judgement that should be made by the individual not legislated. (IMO)

If everyone in the world was gay, then naturally we wouldn't be able to reproduce. Society is warping a lot of ppls mind by having them think it is right, as well as a lot of other things (ex: sex out of wedlock/drugs/abortion...etc.)

In the beginning there was Adam and Eve, NOT Adam and Steve

I'm not judging anyone, God only has that right, I'm just stating my opinion...please don't be offended

Love is love, I do not care if it same sex or opposite sex. If getting married makes someone happy, go for it. It destroys nothing.

I say that their getting rights as a married couple hurts no one, so let them do it.
