I just got one and it was absolutly painless! I actuilly got a filling that was more uncomfertable then this! The only downside of it, is that is boring. Bring an ipod and lissen to music while they are doing this. I just got the novicane and it was absolutly fine. You don't need all this laughing gas and stuff to put you to sleep! Also, I am a baby when it comes to pain, so if I could handle this, I am sure many people could. Picture this as a filling....except an hour more! Good luck and don't worry or loose sleep over it. You will deffinitly be fine!

IF you have your root canal done by an endodontist (Dentist that specializes in root canals), then it should be a pretty easy procedure. Local anesthetic (like getting a filling done) is used. Modern instruments that are used today insure easy access into the nerve of the tooth & make for a comfortable procedure. Expect some post op discomfort but usually over the counter medication should relieve most residual pain. If there is a severe infection then there may be another follow up visit to completely remove the infection. All in all, do as the dentist instruct and you should be fine

ok,my thoughts were worse than the actual thing...

GET THE GAS ! they can control the pain but the gas is for nerves...also tell them when you feel anything they will give you more novacaine.

as long as your numb you will be ok...once your numb they will start drilling, don't freak out if they tell you a drill bit broke in there,it's fairly common and it's sterilized and itty-bitty(happened to lots of people I know)they put something that felt like little springs and some goop on top of that to fill in the tooth.they may take x-rays inbetween the process...it's tender, you won't be able to put pressure or eat hard food on that side till your crown comes in(you gotta go back for that)they will give you a temp...but my bro's fell off cause he ate something...buy chicken noodle soup (little noodles)BEFOREHAND so you don't have to go in the grocery store high as hell like me...something that can go through a straw...oh yea,buy straws...sprite also...your tummy may be irritated from the pain meds...

it was easter time when i did it and all the decorative bunnies had me cracking up to tears...i felt so stupid...cause i made the dentist and the assistant start laughing to...

Insist upon the laughing gas. Great stuff to have in your head when he's in there digging around.
