DO NOT USE LEMON OIL ON A GUITAR!!!
You'll ruin it even worse.
I have the Guitar Players Guide to Repairs and it EXPLICITLY says do NOT use any kind of oil as a polish.
You can use a carnauba (carnooba) based wax for your guitar. The paint is almost identical to a cars finish
Use naptha as a cleaner. This is commonly called lighter fluid. I thought it was crazy until I tried it. Works awesome. The book taught me that too. Just squirt some onto a old cotten t shirt and rub away...be careful of the fingerboard.
Then use your car wax.
Try Meguiars Mirror Glaze. Youre bass will come out looking like a mirror!
Then you can give me that 10!
and your cookie recipe!

If you've just removed the sheen, then guitar polish is the way to go.
But, if it went deeper and you actually removed the finish. Then you'll need professional help. Not to worry, it's not that expensive. But you definitely don't want to try something on your own.
I have a Gibson ES335 Dot. And when I was a teenager, I stupidly wrote "Smokestack Lightning" (after the Howlin' Wolf song) in permanent marker on it. I took it to a professional, after wards it looked brand new. The way it looked when I bought it. And it sounded perfect. Remember, depending on the guitar the finish has a lot to do with the sound.
The best way to 'clean' it, is just to use a soft cloth to buff it. Practically any chemical you use is going to affect the finish. Again we go back to the guitar polish. It's relatively benign, all things considered.

Have you tried guitar polish? You can get a bottle for like $3 at most music stores. I use luthier's choice or ernie ball but they're all pretty much the same. Anyway if can get that or a small amount of lemon oil (not juice) and buff it on. That should work unless you somehow stripped the finish off.

All you are suppose to do is wipe it clean. If its ruined I would just cover it with stickers or spray paint it
