does roaming charges apply to text messaging?
friend is leaving the country for a few days, roaming costs a fortune when calling., but does it also apply to text messaging?

As the previous two said, no there are no roaming fees for Text Messanging, unlike phones text messages simply rely upon any available network and send a short blip over that network.
You still are reponsible for any fees associated with text messages, generally $.10 a message for recieving/sending if you do not have a text messaging package.

no, it shouldn't. as long as you are sending it to his US phon,e assuming that he is bringing that one with him.
If he purchases a new phone out of the country, then sending a text to a person in a foreign area with a foreign phone, text messageing does cost extra usually.

no...you can text from anywhere as long as you have a signal, and it will not cost you extra "roaming fees"
