  • can someone suggest a good photo uploading site?

OK i'm looking for something fairly specific here, so these are the criteria:

    1. I will be uploading a decent number of photos each month and need something that allows bulk uploads (5 at a time doesn't count, at least 100 at a time, or a whole folder at a time)

    2. The photos can be resized, that will not be a problem.

    3. There is preferably no limit on the number of pics, or storage size cap. If that is not possible, then at least a really high limit.

    4. A small subscription fee is OK, maybe $20-30 a year, but preferably free.

Can someone suggest a good service/website given these criteria?

    Thanks in advance for anwers

  • processor compatibility?

I have a AMD Athlon 64 3200 on may laptop, but I don't know what would be compatible with it, and what i can upgrade it to.

The socket type should be a socket 754, so would that mean that any other CPU with the same socket type would be supported? Would the motherboard fall into play at any point (such as max speed supported, etc)?

If I'm completely off track, can someone point me in the right direction? I'm looking at switching my single core to a dual core (I'm guessing a Athlon X2).

  • eating hair for protein?

OK, now this probably sounds like the stupidest question ever, but here's the deal.

My friend and I were discussing what u would eat when you're stranded somewhere with no food. So when we got to the topic of protein, she mentioned hair is protein, and that technically, u could eat hair as a source of protein. Well this didn't sound right to me, and the reasoning was that i don't think it would digest very well, but I also cannot deny that hair is in fact mostly protein.

Anyone have any idea of who is right and why?

  • I want to take out a shared folder but the folder no longer exist at its assumed location?

OK, I used to have a folder that is shared on the network at location E:\foldername. This used to be the location on my external hard drive. Now I installed a DVD burner and an extra internal hard drive, and now the External shows up as G:\foldername but the shared folder still points to E:\foldernmae on windows.

How can I make it point to my G drive, or else how can I completely remove it from the list of shared folders.

I'm looking at my shared folders from MyComputer (right click) > Manage > Shared Folders > Shares

  • what is the advantage of doing your bed in the morning?

Other than to make a visitor feel like u're not a messy person?

Since u're coming back a night to undo it all over again, is there any real reason why people do their beds?

  • Why is it that it has to be US leaders who decide what to do in Iraq?

Why is it that it has to be US leaders who decide what to do in Iraq (i.e. add troops/withdraw troops etc...) when it should be up to the people of Iraq to decide if they want the US's military help or not?

P.S. I think politics in general is just screwed up, even though it is kinda necessary in some cases.

  • Fairness in rewarding students?

Being at the top of your class doesn't necessarily mean u're working hard, but u get rewarded anyway just for being there no matter what the means u took to get there (just being a pure genius in the subject, working hard, or cheating)

But what about all those people who try really hard but never quite make it to the top? Effort is hard to calculate I agree, but don't u people think effort should be rewarded also? Can we do something about it? Kids who work hard but never get there tend to despair and sometimes drop out thinking they're stupid and that there's no use.

What do you think? And how can we change the system?

  • what's the best way to learn how to fix cars?

go to a technical school? learn from someone who already knows? pick out a book? buy an old junky car and dissect it?

I already have some basic engineering skills (mostly electrical, a bit of mechanical and a bit of civil), so I probably don't need to start from scratch.

  • online scans vs resident anti-virus?

I have up-to-date spybot, adaware, symantec AV, McAfee firewall installed on my computer. I ran the scan as I normally did and everything seemed clean. Then I decided to run an online scan because ppl said they were more effective, and yes they did detect things my other scans did not detect.

Why? Can certain viruses/spyware camouflage themselves against locally running AV software?

    I used ewido's online scan. http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/

I think it's pretty good, but is it the best?

  • for experts: system32 folder required files?

I have this file called 19d514ad.exe in my system32 folder. It looks so suspicious but I don't want to delete it yet because it's in a critical folder. There is no information whatsoever on the net about this executable file.

Does anyone have that file on their computer too? Is it safe to delete?

  • Reformatting WinXP on a dual boot machine?

Alright, my computer has 3 partition (a couple more but for simplicity's sake), one for WinXP, one for Linux (Fedora 4), and one FAT32 partition for shared data.

My WinXP is acting screwy after a viral infection and I want to reformat that partition.

Now my question is this. Do I have to worry about the other partitions when I reformat and reinstall WinXP? Will they all get wiped out? Will they be unaccessible after the reformat? I use grub to choose the OS when the system starts, is that going to disappear?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • weight of database calls?

Does anyone know how much resource each type of database call will require? For example, I know that an INSERT will be more expensive than a SELECT, but by how much? I need to rank the following (sry if it looks like a homework question but it is not)

    - several kinds of SELECT (simple, with JOINs and/or UNION and/or LIKE, etc)

    - an UPDATE

    - a DELETE

    - an INSERT

any other ones would be useful, but they are not what I am looking for right now. I'm working on several full-scale web/database servers with heavy traffic, so code efficiency is of great importance. Thanks in advance for any input.
