I attended one of those festivals here in Reno,NV about a year or two back. I was actually a volunteer counselor for a night. The overall experience was very good. This was the first time that different mainline Christian churches got together to support the work and each other. Many people came to the event and a hundred or hundreds of decicions were made for Christ. There was outreach events targeting young children and teens, as well as the main message and concert/worship. The P.A. system went partially out during some of the singing from Point of grace but that was nothing major to the people. The only negative thing I found was that when leaving the area I ran into a person trying to take advantage of the people there and passing out religious propaganda that was not representative of christianity, it was more like some kind of fundamentalist cult. The love of God was not on this guy's face either, it was more like a deadpan storefront dummy without a smile. I don't see how anyone would want what he had.

I went Festival con Dios. It was pretty fun. I'm not majorly outgoing though, so I probably didn't get everything out of it that I could have. But it was cheap, and there were a whole bunch of big name bands there. I'd recommend checking one out.
