I need Microsoft Word help!?

I want to rotate the page from portrait view to landscape view, but change the direction of the text also....if I go into page setup and do it, the text remains, and some of it gets cut off...basically I want to rotate the entire page so I can work with it at a different angle.

Update:

If I copy all the text, and change the page on setup and then paste it, the direction of the text remains the same, everything is written sideways....I want the whole page to rotate 90 degrees...but I can't find a way to do this.

copy the text, change the setup, and then paste it ;)

  • I think you are not trying to rotate a text, because text rotates when you change the page setup. Probably you got a picture text or something copied on the working page. Or use a text box to copy your text on it.. it has an option: Go to Menu, format and Text direction....

If it is what you look for you should do what the person before me recommended you. Go and download "THE BETA" office, this version has an option to rotate the page as you like with your mouse. I hope it helps.

You already know how to change to lanscape for page set up so I will not tell you that. The only way I know to change the position of the text is to make tables and change the position of the text in tables. Here is how:

    1) Make a table and type text

    2) click in the box of the text you want to change

    3) click format the text direction

    4) rotate text

One other ways is that you can use the word art option on the drawing tool bar.

    1) To open drawing toolbar right click on a tool bar and select drawing from the list (it will appear at the bottom of the page.

    2) Then click on the 3D "A" at the bottome it will bring up a box. 3) Type your text then click OK.

    4) Choose the style and direction and then click OK.

If you already have text written all you have to do is highlight the text and press the 3D "A" and go from there.

You can change the direction of text to be contrary to the page orientation.

For example, portrait text on a landscape page or landscape text on a portrait page.

To do this you have to use either imbed the text you want to orient contrary to the page's orientation using table cells or a text box.

In a table cell highlight the cell or cells you wish to change the text direction.

Then go to the Format menu.

You'll notice that the usually dimmed options called "Text Direction" is no available to you.

You can also do this with a text box.

Insert a text box. Select the text box. Then go to the Format menu and choose "Text direction"

    Good luck!

As far as I know, Word always keeps the text horizontal, so if you so if you change the page orientation, the text will still be going the same way. What you might try is doing the project in a program like Adobe Photoshop. It allows much greater flexibility in manipulating graphics and text, but doesn't have all the word processing features of Word.

The only way you can change text direction is converting your text in table, you add a table and hide the gridlines (nobody will notice that it's a table). Select the text in the table, and then select Format - Text Direction.

Holy poop. That's question is confusing without seeing what you mean. Do you have cells in the page? Check your page border setttings. Also remember that "print preview" will show you what it will look like when printed. If it looks fine on the screen, but prints funny, then it's the printer drivers.
