Does disputing charges on a credit card hurt your credit?

I've just disputed a charge from Gold's Gym. I cancelled, in writing, my membership in May. They charged me in June, which was authorized since the contract requires 30 days notice of cancellation. I had membership for over a year, so I met all of my obligations under contract for cancellation.

However, the charged me again in July. I disputed the charge with my credit card company. If Gold's somehow makes it look like I owe July's bill, will it hurt my credit?

I don't want to pay Gold's anymore, but I don't want this affecting my credit....errrr!

No, it will not hurt your credit if you dispute a charge on your credit card. If you have proof that you cancelled the membership in May and the payment in July was unauthorized, you will have no problem. If you did not dispute the charge and just decide not to pay your credit card bill or pay it late.... that will hurt your credit.

I have had a similar experience and had to dipute a charge. It never hurt my credit.

It under no circumstances will damage your score disputing a pretend cost. After each little thing is cleared by using the mastercard organization it is going to take 6 months to a year to treatment the record. be sure you get a letter from the mastercard organization acknowledging the fake declare. This should not be that good sized of a deal and besides the actuality that in case your credit is run you could produce the letter and they'll call and be certain. do not sweat it, it will be lengthy gone, notwithstanding it is going to take a even as for it to be faraway from the credit.

Yes, if they make it look like you're just not paying, then it can hurt your credit. You should talk to your credit card company so that they understand about your cancellation. if possible, get whatever you had to sign to cancel your membership as proof. i would also call Gold's Gym and try to sort things out, but they may be trying to make money, so don't expect them to be understanding.
