The establishment of Israel as a country for the Jews and the displacement of Palestinians from their lands. It is not Israel vs. Lebanon. It is Israel vs. Hezbollah who are supported by Iran and Syria.

If you want to look at the root cause that necessariy means that you will need to go back beyond Hizbollah and study the history of the region. A good staring point would be 1948. To make an informed decision you will need to also look at both sides of the dispute.

The root cause is Hezbollah kidnapping soldiers and firing rockets into Israel.

something about wrongly imprisoned soldiers and trying to get them back ...someone with a bright idea decided the only way to get them back was to start a war
