My miniature schnauzer is going on 12 years old and I noticed his hind legs shake now, what would cause this?

I have an 11 yr. old maltese that is having that kind of problem too.The vet said it was arthritis.There is a shot that I had given to him.It was Predisone but after time it mess's with the kidneys so I now give my dog a quarter of an aspirin every other day or when he looks like he is slowing down or in pain.

Now is the time to get another dog. A young dog will be company for him in his declining years, and at 12 years old, he's on his way out. In addition, when he does pass, having the other one there will be a great comfort to you.

You might try some Flexicose I have been using it on my 14 year old german shepard when he started the same thing walking stifly and shaking. after about a month his movement was great now after 6 month he is acting like a puppy again

Behavioral, neuropathy, arthritis, hip displasia, patella's, or a number of other physical, behavioral, or physiological problems.

Only a Vet can tell.

This could be an issue with the discs in his spine. Or it could be arthritus. I'd take him in to the vet to be checked... if he's in pain they can give him something to help.

its most likely arthritus... i have a shih tzu, who is 15 and thats what she has. i have to carry her up and down the stairs now cuz she cant do it anymore. go see ur vet and they should give u something for it.

most likely arthritis. i had dog go through the same thing.
