where is fuel pump located in my 1991 Chevy Blazer, is it difficult to replace and what can i expect to pay?

well the fuel pump is in the tank if you never done one don't try have a pro do it you also said rod knock that's a major motor problem and will cost you a bundle like 1,500 to 2,000 so need to know if this is what your also talking about ? the cost to have it properly diagnosis and if pump is deemed bad then parts and labor should not run over $ 250.00 U.S. dollars

yeah I can understand your situation. $400 is too much to change that fuel pump. The guy above is correct, the pump is in the gas tank. If you wanna tackle it yourself you can go to Autozone and get you a Haynes Manual ($13) for your Blazer and it has step by step instructions on how to remove your fuel pump. If you have the S-10 Blazer, your pump is $40 on Autozone.com in my area. It should take no more than 4-5hrs if your not experienced.

Some advice if you don't wanna do it yourself: Go to your local Chevy dealer (or shop of your choice) and ask one of the mechanics (don't let anyone hear) if he/she will put in on for you at their home. It will be a whole lot cheaper (less than 200 I'm sure if there honest). Put you some Slick 50 in the ol' chevy and you can extent that engine. Remember drive it until it stops, then by you a Ford.

drive the truck until its almost out of gas. have 2 new straps to hold the gas tank up. place a floor jack with a 2x10. like 2 1/2 feet wide under the tank. Jack it up so its just touches the tank, try to undo the straps and if no just cut them. on the top of the tank is the fuel lines, filler tube(looks like a bigger radiator hose). some wires. i don't remember exactly how it comes off. its been like 6 years since i did my blazer when i had it. just take your time and disconnect ever thing. you have to lower the jack a lil bit before you start trying to disconnect things but you'll be OK. in the top were the lines go in is where the pump is. where are you from?

It is in the gas tank. Not sure about dropping the tank. Most newer vehicles have access panels under carpeting to change it out. Go to an Autozone or other parts store and buy a service manual. Worth there weight in silver. Easy job to do if you have the manual to help you.
