Go to mycomputer icon and right click (click on properties) you should have the systems screen pop up go to hardware and click on device manager make sure you have no unknown hardware if you do that may be the you may need the driver for the sound card.

you can also just restart the PC complete or you can also go to start-control panel-sound and audio devices and make sure that the correct sound card is default most computer's these days have two so check it out....

Make sure your Sound Driver isn't disabled; it may have inadvertently disabled itself during shutdown: Go to Device Manager (Start> RightClick My Computer> Properties> Hardware Tab> Device Manager) and right click on your sound driver and choose enable. If not, try updating the driver, which will effectively restore it to factory settings if there's an update available. If you don't know the name of you Sound Driver, so to Start> Run> dxdiag. Now go to the Sound Tab and any sound hardware installed is listed. If that still doesn't work, the driver may have been uninstalled. If so, go to your computer's manufacturer's website and go to the "Support" section. There should be a link for drivers. You will need to know your computer's model, but once you enter that it will give you an option to download any missing drivers. Just find the Sound Driver and install it. Hope that helps =]

I am a professional developer with Microsoft, and have about 10 years of experience in the field of Computer Engineering. Most problems with PC's are the result of malicious software that infected a Computer. Examples of this are things such as malware, viruses, trojans, spyware, adware, root kits, and worms. In other cases, they are the result of stability issues due to crashes, freezes, or Hardware Issues. Some examples of hardware issues could be a dirty cooling fan causing the computer to overheat, or low memory due to lack of RAM, which could cause the PC to run slowly. You may think it could be a virus, or malware, or registry issues, but it could be something else entirely. As a computer layman, one may find it hard to really ascertain what exactly is causing the problems, without having a professional do an in depth analysis of your PC.

As professional computer repairs can be quite costly, I would recommend to you a Software that many of us in the tech department here at Microsoft use personally and professionally to diagnose and repair computer problems very quickly. It is a software called Reimage, from https://tr.im/ReimageRepairs .. In my personal experience, and in the experience of many of my associates, this is probably the best software ever created for those experiencing computer troubles. This is likely to remedy just about ANY problem your computer could possibly be having, and have it running like new. Reimage has won several awards, and been featured in publications such as PC Mag.

What software are you using to listen? I have had that trouble with media player 11. Also check all connections, and go to sound under control panel and check your software. Be sure mute has not been checked. Go to my computer right click and choose manager to see that all elements such as codec etc are not marked with an yellow exclamation point. If anything is reinstall all sound software.

    Ehm..

You can download cleaner for free here http://bitly.com/UrANzQ

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. CCleaner also fixes your registry. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware.

Check hardware first: Make sure speakers are properly connected and connected into the correct jack on the sound card. Make sure that they have power and are turned on.

Next, check software: Go to Start: Control Panel: Sounds and Audio devices and make sure that you have an active sound card. Also, check your volume control and make sure it isn't muted.

    Good luck!

First, check to see that the speakers and their wires are completely connected. Then, check to see if your sound card is seated properly on your motherboard (unplug the power cord and de-staticise yourself first - any static to the board can fry it or one of it's components). If it's seated properly on the board, make sure any connection wires are in place. If all is well with the sound card, check your sound card driver for any conflicts. If your sound card is integrated, you can skip the motherboard test and check the driver. Do a scan disk (with auto correct on) to check for disk errors. If all else fails, try your local repair shop.

Plug them in, turn them on, unmute your computer sound (double click the speaker icon by the clock), re-boot, re-install sound drivers, open up computer and make sure sound card (if not integrated) is plugged in properly.

Do them in that order until you get it working

Hello. My name is Sanjay Patel, and I currently hold an honorary Master's degree in the field of Computer Science. I am aware of, and have personal knowledge related to your question. There are computer repair businesses which are probably in your area, however they come at the cost of hiring a professional to enter your home. There may also be some local destinations where you can drop off your computer and wait to have a technician look at it. These options can often be costly, and pretty inconvenient. The answer to this question can probably be found doing a little extra research on Google.

A well-running computer can be a hard thing to maintain. From my experience, there is but only One software which is reputable, and consistently reliable for healing sick computers. Reimage™ - https://reimagefix.im/ is a world-renown, easy to use software designed by Forensic scientists and made for the average person. This thing will fix literally just about ANY problem you could possibly be having with your PC. Reimage was recommended to me by a Professor during my 2nd year of Graduate school.
