What benefit is there in givng the answer to someone asking for homework help?
I find that more often than not people give the answers to homework help requests rather than guidance on how to find the solution. How does this help the person needing assistance?

Almost no benefit. What the replier can do is guide him to the answer and make the asker think and then find the solution himself. This will help the asker in all ways. The one who answer must also give a full fledged solution to show how to go about to find the solution. It is advisable for the answerer to give the solution only if he can show how to reach it in the correct manner. In case of maths the use of calculator must be BANNED for school level work. They are making most students use Yahoo! Answers for a rather simple problem which in a normal case should require a little extra thinking.
Your question is a very nice question which is worth discussing...much better than the ones that are coming off late. Thanks for the good question.

I am very good in some subjects. Where math is concerned, I am just lost. I take people's questions seriously as I would want them to treat my concerns. Even now, I am seeking someone who is proficient in doing basic math, algebra and higher forms of math. Very few people have this expertise. Even in school, I am hearing from grammar and high school students, even college students, that the teacher basically gives up problems to be dug into and solved by self. This is simply ridiculous. Even the subject books on how to do this or that and ending in Made Simple or Made Easy, are not. My question is to whom? I believe that someone who has math expertise could become marvelously rich if they undertook the basics and built on up to the heavier math, algebra, geometry, calculus, trigonometry, etc. With all of the other subjects, I can pretty much grab the rope and pull myself up. I just steadily read, read and read some more. I sincerely understand your plight. My best source so far is the Harold Washington Library (main library) here in Chicago, Illinois. The personnel there are pretty upbeat and try to help people to get to a successful point about subject matter. Read Psalm 35 to (Plead My Cause) - It is long winded and quite worthwhile. Also read Psalm 4 for (Safety and Protection) against the unknowns in this world. Remember this, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31. Peace and God Bless.

Well, I do not suppose i might have the center to provide anyone dangerous solutions on motive. that is somewhat merciless however she'd be taught a useful lesson. The nice factor to do is simply to mention no, or cover your solutions or ask to take a seat in yet another location. You have the vigor on your possess paintings and development. Don't allow anybody improvement off your credit score. I realize precisely what that appears like and I desire that on the time I must have rejected them becuase the extra i gave him the extra they suggestion they might finally maintain doing this. Or simply lie and say you do not know the reply or have not gotten to the aspect but, or that you simply did not even do your homework. Or you'll be able to put up it early.

Many of the people who answer homework help questions do explain the process and logic behind finding the solution. There's no benefit to the asker to getting nothing but an answer, but if someone can help explain the methods used in finding the answer, it can help them solve similar questions independently.

They get a "quick fix"
They get their homework done... ok.. they probably don't understand it... but for someone who is totally frustrated and won't learn anything anyway because they won't follow the guidance... well... it is sometimes better than nothing.. sometimes not... that is why I sometimes answer along with guidance.... and sometimes just give guidance... but I never just give an answer.

Personally, I try to give them formulas as to how to solve the problems (math questions). I do, however, agree with you about giving them all the answers. Yesterday, I set up formulas for this one person who needed help and, when I submitted my response, saw that someone had given the person all the answers!

the benefit? well if there is one...it would be- knowing that you are smarter and you know the answer and they dont...because thats why you are telling them haha. happens alot to me. people are always asking me for the answers to homework and stuff....well sure they get a good grade on it but when it comes to the test....they are completely lost! so i guess knowing you know it already is the real "benefit".

It doesn't - and the spelling of the youth on this site is proof of that!!! I feel sorry for myself - because when I am old this is the generation that is going to be in charge and supposed to take care of me - YIKES!

There is only one benefit.... that is if you charge them a fee.
