All three letter domains were registered years ago - so there are none left. If you want one, you're going to have to buy it off somebody.

It is not a matter of how many there are, it is a matter of if the one you want is already registered. If you want a specific domain name bad enough, you may have to pay for it.

Some combinations are better than others. For example, NBC, CBS, FOX, XXX, or FOO might be worth a bit more than other random 3 letter combinations.
