is marriage nearing its natural death in today's world ?

I hope not! I have been married for over 7 years. It seems like people don't want to marry because the lack commitment and have this flimsy reason for the high divorce rate. Avoiding marriage is not going to make the problem go away. People get divorced way too quickly and easily I think. I think that some people rush into it too quickly and don't realize the tremendous love and especially respect that goes into it. It's not just 1 day when the woman is a bride. The problem with that is women daydream about their weddings but not about what happens the day after and the rest of their lives. That is the most important part is the marriage! I think marriage can be very nourishing and spiritual but it seems some people (i.e. celebrities) are making a mockery out of something special and beautiful between 2 people.

Marriage for love, and not necessity is now a conscious choice both men and women are making. However, marrying someone before you know who you are as a person, will lead to trouble. You don't need to have someone else love you until you can love yourself. Women are realizing that they can love themselves, have a career, and socialize on the friendship and dating scene, more and more. Men seem to have always known that. So now it's no surprise that women are having first marriages at 30+. There is nothing wrong with getting married later, or not at all. Women who wait have all the options of having children later in life, adopting, of being a good god-mother.

So in conclusion, marriage may not exactly be nearing its natural death in today's world, but it is not as much of an expected event in ones life.

Why would you believe marriage is irrelevant? Just because so many people get married on a "whim" and aren't ready to work at it so they just call it quits? For them, it never was relevant, it was a "fling"... for me, it's relevant and a very important part of my life, like my job and my child. I understand that people want the benefits without the responsibility and effort, but that is a problem with people, not the institution... My opinion, I know. good question. take care.

There is noting wrong with the word Marrieges is just that people are becoming more difficult these days and everyone is into the Media, approving as being single and butt wild popular. The rates in America has gone down to almost 50% yet its because we have a large industry in doing what we watch on tv. Marriege wont be death, now these days many people arent gettng married, and other married to early. hope i helped a bit.

marriage will not die. by itself. because it is man made. it is a social norm.man made the marriages those days because he believed in family, relationship, parental care for the child, etc. marriage is just a legal bondage between a man & a woman. it is up to the man whether he should have this bondage or not. if he thinks he needs it , marriage will live. otherwise man will kill it. marriage cannot die by itself because man has created for his convenience. he has to kill it if he thinks he does not need it now..

You know i have known a lot of coples that had like 4 kids together over a span of like 10-18 years and wernt married...you know you have a very good point.

marriage has no meaning today, sex is important today;

this will affect our future generations, children wont have affections and security, they will become criminals!!

today we have started witnessing it is consequences, it will further diminish in near future!!

Money motivated people have made the world in such situation, immature and illiterate people are following them blindly!

Youngsters should change their attitude and be more responsable ;
