What to do with an old desk?
I have a old desk that is pretty beat up. There are scratches and wear, plus a 70s dark brown finish. What is the best way to make it look presentable in a old world style room? Someone told me I should get a distressing kit or strip it and restain. Any advice?

you can paint it...you may have to sand down the shine if it has polyurethane on it, then prime it, and paint color of your choice...if you want it to look old and worn you can sand down the surfaces that would be touched often i.e. knobs and corners...then to make it look older you can rub a stain all over it (the color of stain would depend on the color you paint it) Stripping it and re-staining it would really take A LOT of work, and it is messy
