Why are the Red Sox positioning us for disappointment (again)?

They have led AL-East all season and now that the season is past the halfway mark we seem to be going down that slippery slope. And the Yankees are nipping at our heels? Why? What's wrong? This year there is little chance for the wild card coming from the east. Detroit looks like a powerhouse!

Update:

I too am a Sox fan...since 1970. I want 2004 to happen again. Just 2 months ago when we were way ahead of those Damn Yankees. Sigh!

This is all about being a faithful Sox Fan . Trying being fan for 38 years and going through all this same stuff for that many years.

But 2004 was so worth it.

    Keep the faith

The Red Sox don't want to give up any of their young pitching stars (Papelbon, Hansen, Lester, Delcarmen) and every team who they try to pull a deal with asks for one or multiple combinations of them. The only players the Sox are willing to give up and who have any trade value are Lowell, Crisp and Pena. Everyone else is staying put. I'd be very surprised if the Red Sox did anything major in the trade market.

I think they are going to wait until Wells and, hopefully, Clement come back. Then they;d have Schilling, Beckett, Lester, Wakefield and Wells/Clement. Their pitching line-up would be alot more solid than it currently is.

Their hitting is good enough to win when they get good pitching. By the way if I ever see Tavarez in a big situation down the stretch I may personally walk up to Francona and punch him in the face. Tavarez is AWFUL!

I agree with the other Red Sox fans...just have faith. I believe in the team and I'm sure we will stay ahead. It's a little shaky right now, but after all this trade bullsh*&, I think we'll get back on track.

    Love those Red Sox!!

I hope not because I'm a Redsox fan and I want to see them make it and not those Yankees.
