Could you recommend a safe / functional / "cool" baby stroller?

My wife and I are getting ready to have our 1st child in November, so I'm just starting my research on "baby products". Lots of products out there all saying they're the "safest" on the market, so I'm just trying to narrow down the field. I'm looking for that rare balance between safe and functional, while still being a "cool" product. Any advice?

Update:

In particular, I really liked the strollers that could double as car seats.

Try going to babies r us, they have a lot of good items. My husband and I are due in September and we purchased a graco stroller/car seat. Remember if you have separate vehicles to opt for an extra base, that way you don't have to switch it out from car to car it's already there.

    Best of luck!

I have infant twins and everything we have is Graco brand, save for a Jeep Wrangler umbrella stroller. I have the double stroller, 2 car seats, and 4 bases (my car and my sister's) for transportation. My Mom even bought a Graco single stroller. I think we're obsessive about the brand....LOL I also have two Graco pack 'n plays and high chairs....and all in the same pattern!!

Go for a stroller that is going to fit in your vehicle, be functional for both you and your wife and fits your budget. You definitely don't need to go out and spend a ton on safe, durable and adorable equipment!!

    Best of luck and congratulations!!

The car seat/stroller is your best bet. Good product that will grow with the child. Do not place your newborn (until they can sit up on their own) into an umbrella stroller, it makes it hard for them to breath.

I would reccomend something in the "Lite" stroller catergory. Most of them now u can even attachany brand car seat. I made the mistake of getting a travel system and it's way to heavy and bulky.

When I had my first child, we bought a regular stroller, which was bulky to fold up and put in the car. I used to see those umbrella strollers in the Mall and thought the babies looked so uncomfortable in them. Then when my daughter was born we received an umbrella stroller as a gift. It was wonderful. In the old stroller my daughter would try to climb out of it and it was so clumsy to get around in the stores. When I used the umbrella stroller, she fit into it like a glove- as if you had your arms around her - and she never tried to climb out. Plus it was so easy to store and carry around in the trunk of the car.

im not sure how your wife feels abut jogigng but if its of her interest i would recommond a jogging stroller once the baby gets a little older. Until then the 3-in-1 carseseat, stroller, basinets work wonders. I have no kids of my own but alot of my friends do and they say they work excellent. Good luck!

    www.bugaboo.com

Is a proper pram then converts into a lovely stroller and you also get the car seat to go onto the wheels for quickness in and out the car.

All the celebs have one - and me!

On the car seat note - don't use it all the time as a stroller becauce babies NEED to lie flat.

I had a Graco travel system. It was great...until he grew out of the car seat at about 6 months and had to get a bigger one

I have an Eddie Bauer stroller/carseat/carrier combo. I like it and it's not too baby-ish.
