How can some ten year-old kid at math camp be smarter at numbers than an MBA like me?

Has math training really improved since I was in school in the 1970s? Or are there true kid geniuses? Or maybe--just maybe--can I be, god forbid, bad at math?

You, I am sorry to say, are just bad at math. What math skills are needed to earn an MBA anyway? Answer: Very, very little. Usually the only math required to earn an MBA are a couple of statistics courses in which computer software is used to do most of the calculations. However, someone with an MBA should be able to analyze the statistics way better than the average ten year-old math whiz. Give yourself some credit. Math may not be in your comfort zone. Also, you just happen to be playing on that kid's home court.

Anyway, if a ten year-old kid is at a math camp, then he/she is a math nerd that derives excitement and joy from solving problems involving numbers. I was once that ten year-old math nerd! Math is as much fun now as I remember 30 years ago when I was ten. However, accounting made no sense to me when I took it. There you go, we're even.

Perhaps he studied math harder than you did. I'm sure for example that you had a teacher with a PhD so someone knows more than you. Perhaps this is the next math professor at the camp.

School is just as crappy as it was when you were in school. Some people are just better than other people at things. Also my guess is that you aren't spending time doing math in your free time like the kids are.

Just like an MBA, to see it as a competition. Go play squash or something.

all this depend upon the kid and your ability.. we can't conclude anything about your question just by looking at ur talent or that kid's talent....

i suppose a proper survey about this question would give us a real answer.
