My 16 month is sucking on her lower lip....?

my 16 month old has just started to suck on her lower lip all day and night, i don't know where it came from, she never had a pacifier, or a botle, she nursed for 12 months, she eats regular foods, and has been drinking from a sippy cup from about five months, will this sucking go away? She also is triyng to stick her hands down my blouse to play with my breast. Please help

Update:

will the sucking damage her lip or make it drop or longer? I'm worried i don't want my little girl to have an ugly mouth

The hand down your blouse is normal- experimenting, becomming aware of body parts/ and the sexes. It will stop.

The sucking on her lip... kids do things like this. My cousin sucked on his third and fourth fingers forever... for years, until they turned gray and the skin was falling off. I don't want that to happen to your daughters lip. If it doesn't stop in a few days, you may want to put something on her lip that doesn't taste very good. My aunt put fingernail polish on my cousin's fingers... that didn't really stop him, he kept sucking until it all chipped off and then went away at it again...

    Sucking Lip

I hope this helps...You should follow the same procedure as thumb sucking, to prevent oral problems

    Lip Sucking

Lip sucking involves repeatedly holding the lower lip beneath the upper front teeth. Sucking of the lower lip may occur by itself or in combination with thumb sucking. This practice results in an overbite and the same kinds of problems as discussed with thumb sucking and tongue thrusting. Stopping the habit involves the same steps as described for stopping thumb sucking

Tips to Help Your Child Stop Thumb Sucking

First, remember that thumb sucking is normal and should not be a concern of parents unless the habit continues as the permanent teeth begin to emerge.

The child must make the decision on their own to stop sucking their thumb or fingers before the habit will cease. To help toward this goal, parents and family members can offer encouragement and positive reinforcement. Because thumb sucking is a security mechanism, negative reinforcement (such as scolding, nagging, or punishments) are generally ineffective – making children defensive and driving them back to the habit. Instead, give praise or rewards for time successfully avoiding the habit. Gradually increase the time needed without sucking to achieve the reward. The younger the child, the more frequent the rewards will need to be given. For children who want to stop, cover the finger or thumb with a band-aid as a reminder. Take the thumb or finger out of the mouth after the child falls asleep.

To help older children break the habit, parents should try to determine why their child is doing it – find out what stresses your child faces and try to correct the situation. Once the problem is gone, the child often finds it is easier to give up sucking. If this doesn't work, there are dental appliances a child can wear in the mouth to prevent sucking. These appliances are cemented to the upper teeth, sit on the roof of the mouth and make thumb sucking harder and therefore less pleasurable

It is all normal. The sucking is a stage and it will last a few weeks to a month and then she will find some other "new" thing to take her interest. As for the breast, I never have figured out their fascination with them even when they have stopped nursing. I found gentle reminders that they can not do that and redirecting their attention helped put that to an end.

  • I suck on my lip too. Mostly, because I don't like the feel of my teeth and when I realize I do it, I brush them. It won't droop but it would get chapped.

Rub vinegar or the nail bitting stuff on the bottom of the lip to stop it. As for playing with your breast, a gentle 'no' and a distraction with a toy will eventually stop that too.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/rn8fI

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

Let her be at least is more hygiene than sucking pacifier or thumb.

Also don't stop her for exploring your body. You must act like nothing so as time by she will sick of it.
