Why can't we all accept that we are each unique and respect each other and be tolerant?

I don't want to point fingers in this, and I hope that no one does so in their answers. I seriously wish that everyone could just realise that we are all unique and loved in our own way. I wish we could respect each other's beliefs and be tolerant of those different from us.

Tolerance doesn't mean sacrificing your beliefs - it's just letting those different from you believe what they believe without trying to force your beliefs on them. Why is it so hard for some people to accept others for who they are and to just be tolerant, loving, and kind?

I went and looked through a "Christian" poster in here's history of questions. She has asked very pointed questions about gays condeming their lifestyle with Biblical quotes in the gay section of Y!A. Why is it so hard for some people to just let others be? So what if someone believes they are wrong, or sinners. It's not their duty to correct them. I thought it was the "Holy Spirit" who was supposed to convict others - not us...

Yes,I do think everyone needs to be a bit more tolerant.I like alot of the pagans around here though, because they are usually cool aboutother peoples beliefs(and if they arent they just dont say anything).I agree with you dude,we all do need to settle our monkey butts down! I am pretty tolerant, but I could stand to improve.

Its very simple. The way our society is set up, we cant all get along and live in Unity, or else the people in power will lose alot of power. We must be seperated in order to be ruled. So Race, Sexual orientation, age, sex, tax bracket, and religion are all used to tell us we are different and have a group to stick up for. If we tolerated each other, and lived in Unity and Love, then we would be to powerful for the Herders, who need the sheep to follow in line.

I don't know really but if your vision were to happen, we wouldn't have anymore Miss America's spewing on about how they want World Peace and no one else would be able to damn Christians.

You are right about one thing-God says we are not to judge others. That means EVERYTHING about other people. You can agree to dislike the same things and even agree to disagree about stuff but you shouldn't run around telling people they are gonna burn in hell cause they're gay or that we should boycott them. (Disney is prime example.) What's it to you if they're gay? Do your Christian duty and witness NICELY and respectfully. You'll either get through or not. In the end, it won't matter to anyone but God if that person changed or not. I'm not gay but I have gay friends and I feel sorry for them when they are acosted them. I'm a Christian (not a good one but I still believe) and I am still their friends because Jesus said we should love one another as our sibling...no matter their defect, color, or mentality.

(Ok-here's where I'm a bad christian-I HATE people who hurt children: abusers, molesters, rapists, etc. I feel sorry for them but I actually do HATE them.)

    One word: fanaticism.

Religion, in itself, is a good thing, it gives people comfort and a general guideline for living life, as well as bring us closer to the creator. But some people take things too far and believe that only their particular, exact interpretation of religion/the bible/etc is correct. I guess it gives them a sense of security and superiorty "I am saved, you're not" . Which I think goes against the humility that true believers have.

the middle teachings of the international's universal religions are not full of condemnation, although as to coach? that's one greater tale. an mind-blowing form of the biggies (including Buddhism and Hindu) have fanatical firms that furnish the middle faith a undesirable status. That actually applies to Christians, Jews, and Muslims, as solid. in my view, this is the guy or female, no longer the religion, who accepts or rejects what others assume.

I don't have a problem with that until I run into someone who want to cut my head off because I don't believe in his religion. I have a hard time being tolerant and respectful of that !

Fear, what annoys us in others is usually an issue/s that we resist in ourselves, and so it persists, bringing people in to your lif showing you what you refuse to see. We keep reacting, reacting, reacting. When we have doubts about our own beliefs we hit out at others stupis beliefs. We are really all one and all we do is fight ourself. We are all unique and different as you say, but not better or worse--just expressing ourself from the worldview we have. Organised religion is scary in the way it thinks God needs something, like he/she was a human being with issues. We are all part of God and we are never separate from her/it, but we are all different and that is something not encouraged in our society.

Some people have this overweening arrogance that theirs is the one, true religion and everyone else's is crap.

I have no problem with accepting your beilefs.

I will not call you an infidel; I expect the same treatment in return.

boy wouldnt that b nice...but part of life is havin to put up with that sort of thing...so i guess we all could but personally i think that it would change the standerds of what u think that acceptance is...or it would make us all lazy...i mean half of what makes me smart is being able to stick up for myself...i mean when other ppl start doing things to me or my friends then i make it a fight with words....i get faster and better and ppl stop eventually...but i guess i wouldnt want evey1 to be accepted by every1 beacuse ppl do things and i guess i would have no problem tolerating them but accepting them is different to me...

I believe that through tolerance of others we learn more about ourselves and the world in which we live in.
