Yes, and another thing about Napster is that you only get to keep the songs as long as you continue your subscription. There's an additional charge [per song] if you want to keep the songs 'forever'.

No like any other store you can buy them after you register with a credit card for $.99 a song or like $10 an album no commitment. But make sure you player is compatible with protected WMA files. The subscription service is just one option.

No - you don't need to subscribe. You can buy tracks as you need them for 99 cents each - since you've actually bought the tracks, they won't expire. I do this all the time. But like firemandan said, make sure your player will work with protected WMA files.
