Are you reading it? I read his other book: Guns Germs and Steel. The first 2/3 was okay but the rest was BORING. Fact after fact. So dry. Best to look at some summaries at amazon.com or something. Or, you'll never get to the end of it.

I read it... and I believe his explanation is that a society's failure or success is dependent upon the environment. Global-warming and agriculture etc.
