Why do a lot of women insist on wearing stiletto heels?

They may look pretty, but we all know they can really hurt or even cause hammertoes or bunions. Men don't normally sacrifice comfort for fashion, why would women do?

The same reasons we dye our hair, wear cosmetics, paint our nails, wear padded push up bras. The same reasons we used to wear corsets, bum rolls, stomachers, hoop skirts, and everything else. It's all for the sake of fashion. Historically society has dictated that women should look good to attract the man, then the man would approach the woman, then PRESTO! we're married and reproducing. As stupid as it sounds, we didn't make the rules today, so we are just now changing them after 5,000 years. Sad that it took us that long to smarten up, isn't it?

First of all stilettos come in different heights. And not all of them are uncomfortable. Yes they are when you first start walking in them, but you learn to adapt just like you would trying to squeeze a size 12 butt into a size 9 pant. Plus they are cute and classy. You don't just look like the average tennie shoe wearer. You attract attention, and they make your legs look so sexy. Did I mention they work your calf muscles? What would a beautiful woman look like walking into the hippest club in town with a pair of Nike shox on? Come on now...don't knock them before you try them!

Well I think that any woman who sacrifices comfort for fashion is someone who is lacking confidence in something else. It is kind of like when a man that is getting to that point in his life when he thinks he is getting old and so to feel young and attractive he goes out and buys a really nice car.

because it's expected. for centuries women have given up comfort for fashion to meet the expectations of men. so aside from they make your legs look great i think they are totally pointless. comfort over fashion anyday!

I wore heels my first year of teaching. Never, never, ever again. My feet and I are buds, and my buds have bunyons. It's all about comfort for them. I wear flats with arch support, and go barefoot as often as I can get away with it.

Maybe for some folks, style is more important than comfort.

well hon it's like this heels make the legs look longer and emphasizes the calf muscle which for some reason is like painting on red lip stick or some rich colour that suits you, it makes people look! simple, anyhow all the best.

Because heels make your butt protrude outward thereby making men react instinctively to their animal instincts. This "showing" of the goods awakens the animal instinct in men to procreate; so women do it to get attention.

It's a confidence thing for me. I walk taller and everything is pushed out the way it should be. They make me feel like I can walk over any man that gets in my way of success. Plus, beauty is pain.

They make your rear end and legs look real good, and some women would rather look good than feel good. (I'm not one of them!) I know a woman who's 4'11" and likes to wear them to feel tall--she runs better in them than I do in sneakers, too!

I love to wear them, and I wear them as much as possible. I have just learned how to walk in them, and they are bery comfortable to me. I love how they make my legs look. Especially in nylons with a short skirt...
