Heat opens your hair cuticle to let things in.

Cold water will close the cuticles and then leave your hair looking shiny.

No, instead of cold water use lukewarm water. Scalp is very delicate and it responds negatively to extremes. And the quality of your hair depends greatly on the health of your scalp. Best thing for shiny hair is to apply

egg with few lemon drops( normal hair)

    curd (dry hair)

You may also soak fenugreek seeds in water overnight and then rinse your hair with it in the morning.

Washing it in hot water strips it, so cold or cool/tepid water is better for it anyway...warm water if it's particularly oily...

It apparently helps to close the hair shaft and make it appear more healthy...yes.
