Now then, are we talking about here on `gud `ol earth? because on the planet quesbog both a tad and a smidge are both equal as they are both pies, just different flavours.

I would say that a tad is the bigger and that smidge or smidgen (also sometimes called a smitch) is the smaller quantity. There could be up to 10 -100 smidges in a tad.

A tad is bigger, which I think measure up to an inch or so. A smidge is less than an inch.
